World of Warcraft Free Starter Edition (Free till Lv20)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Free "trial" with World of Warcraft, up to Level 20, and no guild functions.
It's been around for a while, but I don't see a previous post on OzB. Good if you want to experience the game. I know I gave up GW2 before I reached Lv20. Some people might find this useful to trial the game/kill time/procrastinate uni exams.

Similar to the Guild Wars post a while back, but more restrictive..

This game is awful. Waiting for it to die so Blizzard can make a new Warcraft MMORPG.

Warlords of the Garrison (WoD) was by far the most boring expansion if you weren't a raider. Stay away from it and do something better with your time.
I have been playing on and off since 2007 and I have many characters. Two at max level.

    • couldn't agree more

    • Props to the people who's still on this since vanilla. I put in about 6 months in game time (during my time at uni ofcourse) and I just gave up after cata.

As for the deal… the f2p till lvl 20 has been there for like years now.

Game was released 2005, it's just about to hit it's 10 year anniversary, so tendollar isn't a vanilla player.

If you're going to have a go at people at least get your own facts straight. The game was released in November 2004, the 10 year anniversary event ran from November last year to January this year…..

        • @jnewau: Thanks for the correction. Memory playing tricks.

        • @jnewau: Oh, and "have a go"? How is saying the game started a couple of years before he did having a go?

    • I think that's a bit harsh. The game is nowhere near how it used to be but it's still the most fleshed out MMO on the market. GW2's latest expansion is quite fun though. Gliders FTW

    • I'm still loving it after ten years playing and five max level characters. Although I do want to point out nowadays Lv 20 means only around 4 to 6 hours. Even not enough for a peak for this giant game.

This isn't a deal. Its always had a free trial

  • It has been free until level 20 for over 4 years now.

    NO deal.

  • Get swtor standard edition for ~$7 on G2A and enjoy the new story for 30 days/steamroll the 8 character stories to level 60. Alot more enjoyable!

But I guess having played WoW inside top 100 world raiding and having no interest in doing that in WoW these days WoD was never going to appeal to me.

    • The raids in WoD were by far the best and most difficult in WoW's history. That's the only redeeming factor about WoD. Everything outside of PVE instances was absolutely mind numbing.

      • The raids are crazy, even for lfr.

  • Vanilla was the best. It still exists in private servers. Google 'Kronos Wow'.

  • Thanks, i don't like to touch subscription games, but ill give this a go. Still the definitive mmo, so i should play it at least once.

  • thanks
