HP Spectre X360 4102tu Touchscreen Issue

Hi everyone.

I recently (actually just this Friday, 30/10/2015) purchased this laptop from JBHIFI, as they are having a 15% deal this weekend.

It is a cool machine, I have to say, however its touchscreen started to act weird yesterday night. It was like "ghost touches", but sometimes the whole panel can go unresponsive. To see if it is due to software issue, I reinstalled/updated all drivers. I even did clean installations of both Windows 10 and Windows 8, but the issue still exists. Here is a video I recorded.

This issue does not always show up, a restart can fix it sometimes.

I'm wondering how will JBHIFI deal with this kind of problems? I had a read on their return/refund policy, but I really don't want a manufacture service for this newly bought laptop. Is that possible to get a new replacement?

Thanks

Replacement or refund - the law says it's your choice. Be firm but nice and you will get a good result.

  • Go to ideally the JB you purchased from. BE POLITE say you would like a refund or a replacement (what ever you want). If the staff member isn't helpful ask to speak with the manager. Given you just purchased the laptop on Friday I think you can firmly but politely suggest they give you a new machine or a refund and they should oblige. JB is pretty good with this.

  • Yeah a couple of years ago when I bought a Nexus 7 from JB, it didn't turn on when I got it home. Went back and they gave me a new one no problems.
