I've been after one of these for a while and stumbled across this for shipping only. Looks to be the proper zinc alloy one.

  • anyone ordered from this site before?

    • +4

I haven't, but I waited until I received the shipping confirmation from them before posting. I also used PayPal, just in case.

  • Just purchased one for myself. Came to $13.01 AUD thanks to Paypal's slightly worse exchange rate. I won't rue the extra 50c :)

  • +10

Good price for a hunka junk

  • Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery (3-6 weeks for Canada). How many months to Australia?

    • Being from Canada and ordering things online many times in both countries I would guess more in the 3-4 week range. Generally a but quicker here than to Canada.

That is assuming it's coming from China (as the delivery time makes me think).

      • That's interesting. Would have though it would reach Canada a little quicker than than.

    • The confirmation email still said 2-4 weeks for me, but I won't be holding my breath.

    • +4

I'm sure they could do it in less than 12 parsecs.

      • +1

Obviously that Hyperspace unit is on the fritz again!

    • Probably quicker than interstate mail. Seriously; I have had mail from UK and Italy (although Germany is notoriously slow) arrive quicker than my interstate mail.

  • +1

I am sceptical, have bought - but they have heaps of stuff for $0 http://cleverclad.com/collections/all?sort_by=price-ascendin…
Looks like they factor the price into the shipping and ship from china?

    • +3

That's right. I've just added some $0 items to my cart and total shipping came to USD25.
deleted all except the bottle opener and it shows the shipping as $8.95US.
Wonder if they allow pick up.

      • +6

It would be a bargain if they allow pickup.

PS. Flight centre currently have promotion for a return trip to Shanghai (from Syd) for only $616.

  • +21

Also available on Ebay for $12.95 AUD delivered:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PRE-ORDER-Star-Wars-Millenium-Fal…

    • +2

Much better option considering 1 week delivery compared with months. Good enough reason to neg this deal because as mentioned above it worked out to $13.01 for one person after conversion.

      • +3

Only worked out at $13 for me because I paid with paypal and they always offer a slightly worse exchange rate. Had I paid with credit card, I would have got it for $12.50.

        • But won't some people incur international transaction fees on their credit cards? It comes down to $12.56 after cash rewards.

        • @unity1: Too true. I guess you're paying a little more either way.

        • +1

@unity1: Surely all ozbargainers by now have a 28 degrees / Bankwest Platinum / Citibank Debit card with no international transaction fees.

        • +2

          @Eivad: or Coles credit card.
Zero currency conversion fees plus (for Oz purchases) 2 years price protection - if it drops by $10 or more from same seller within 2 years, claim the difference.

        • @Eivad: I'd say many do, but not everyone.

        • @systmworks: That sounds too good to be true… Does that mean, for example, if I bought Fallout 4 at release price, two years later when it's half that (at least) I could claim the difference?

        • +1

@EBC: Yes. As long as its from the same seller, including different branches or online store (eg buy from JB HiFi local store, and later their website has it for half the price)

https://financialservices.coles.com.au/credit-cards/about-ou… (see about half way down)
          https://financialservices.coles.com.au/~/media/financial-ser…

I have until late December to claim around $80 on a Note3 I bought from JB HiFi almost 2 years ago.

        • @systmworks:

Time to stop using 28degrees. 2 years price protection is NUTS.

I make a buttload back from my 28 degrees with just 6 months price protection.

        • @justtoreply:
Hmmm, can you remember all purchases up to two years ago……

          Does sound very enticing though.

        • @systmworks: do they get you with monthly or annual fees though? so if your not making regular claims you end up behind? and I'm curious if anyone would use this for a video game then, imagine a game like FIFA at launch, pay the $70 in 2 years time it's worth $25, you make a claim essentially pay $25 for a new game if your willing to outlay in advance?

        • +1

@yacman: the purchase protection (which covers a bunch of things, such as accidental loss/breakage, as well as price) has a fee of 1% of outstanding monthly balance.

So if you pay your credit card off every month, 1% of $0 is $0 so its free.

If you dont plan on paying the card off or close to zero, most or every month, then you have to decide if your price claims will justify the fees.

Annual fee is $0 to $89 depending on the card.

        • @systmworks: This sounds amazing, does it cover items from ebay and other online purchases (so long as its not second hand)? CHeers.

        • @systmworks: well as long as all cards have this policy, I would go for the one without annual fees and just pay my monthly balance by the due date and have a free credit card with 2 years price/damage protection?

        • @yacman: yes you could do that, but if you spend more than ~$8K a year on your credit card (very easy, with weekly groceries/petrol) then the 4X FlyBuys points you earn on the annual fee card are worth more than the fee, so you are better off paying the fee and getting hundreds of dollars in free groceries redeeming points.

If however you spend less than $8K a year on that credit card, go for the zero fee card with 1/4 FB points.

        • @systmworks: I have not heard of this "2 years price protection" before. Very interesting; thank you.

        • @capnstoobie

I bought the one you linked instead of the OP's one… and just received it.

          WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!

          It's much smaller than the OP's one. 6cm x 4.5cm.

You weren't to know, but holy crap… it's chalk and cheese compared to OP's post, and I feel cheated.

          DO NOT BUY!!

        • @UFO:

But you didn't buy the OP one as well though. The OP one might be a cheap replica too. We need someone to confirm.

        • @CVonC:

I bought one after receiving the 1st one.
The images for the OP's one show its size compared to a beer bottle and a human hand. The OP's opener looks like it spans 4 fingers across an open palm, and almost covers all four fingers. The one linked by Capnstoobie sits on two fingers and is shorter than my pinky finger.

        • @UFO:

Okay so just to clarify any ambiguity, you also got the one from cleverclad, received it already and can confirm its the same as the pictures?

        • @CVonC:

          Negative.

Just trying to warn people not to buy Capnstoobie's one, by relying on the pictures of cleverclad's one (they are very different).

Cleverclad's one has not been received due to 3-6 week delay quoted, but it at least has pictures showing its size and is obviously a different model due to the level of detail and sizing.

Just warning people not to purchase it like I did. Same price, inferior product.

    • Damn, should have waited

    • It says in the title pre-order. Hopefully we don't need to wait couples of weeks to get it.

      • +1

I think PayPal have increased their dispute timeframe from 45 to 180 days, so if it doesnt arrive within a few weeks, put in a refund claim.

    • +15

I don't need a Millennium Falcon Bottle Opener. I shouldn't buy this. But on the other hand, if I buy it I will have a Millennium Falcon Bottle Opener!!

      • +2

        Impeccable logic.
Put it this way, in a years time which would you regret more, spending $13, or missing out on a Millennium Falcon Bottle Opener?

        • +1

A year from now I will have another $13, so I should buy the bottle opener! Thanks for the help.

        • +3

This IS the bottle opener you've been looking for.
          (waves hand)

  • +2

Don't need this, have a bottle opener. But I want it. Why?

  • +1

You just answered your own question….
    Just buy it.

  • +1

I don't need this, but I sure as hell want it, and I bought it xD

  • +1

I'm still waiting for a deal on The Starship Enterprise pizza cutter. http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/dea2/

  • That's pretty pricey for a bottle opener no matter what shape it is. Bar blades are great and only a few dollars from ebay.

  • +4

The force is strong with this bargain…. I don't need it, don't want it, but I'm buying it.

    • they look different tho.
ur one is silver and the one op posted is gold colour :P

      • just looks gold next pic shows silver

    • Going by op's post, there may be an inferior clone with dodgy materials??

Or maybe not. Got no idea myself.

      • It is inferior, I bought one.

Look closely at detail (especially the satelite dish that sticks up on OP's one. These ones have it missing… and going by sizing of opener in OP's one, its bigger too. These Ebay ones are much smaller… barely covers two fingers in width let alone 4 fingers as shown above.

  • +1

What's the difference between a star wars and star trek bottle opener?

    • +7

Using the Star Wars Bottle opener you need to apply Force?

  • Zinc alloy = "pot metal"

AKA the cheapest metal they could find. Also not an official licensed product, so it money on a pirated product.

Anyways, have fun if you can see some value in it.

    • +1

I'm hoping it's an official product, but probably won't know for sure until it arrives. The official licensed one is available here for comparison:
      http://scifitoys.com.au/star-wars-millennium-falcon-diecast-…

That said, I've seen that same photo with the beer on many websites and I'd be surprised if they were all legit.

If it is counterfeit, can't you get a refund from PayPal anyway and still keep the item? It's been a while since I've ended up with anything dodgy when buying from PayPal.

      • +3

        Its a Fake
Clearly seen in the third photo

        • curious to know what about it?

is it the left pod thingy looking like it's further out?

        • @CVonC: load up pictures of both side by side in 2 browser windows - you will see far more detailed design on the more expensive genuine one.

      • I think you have sold me on the original … Perhaps you could drop by and advise us, when it arrives, if you think it is the real thing or a copy. Shall wait a few weeks to see if there is any feedback. That said, thank you for your post; I have reservations about it being a copy too. The force is strong with my young (well not so young) padawan son; wouldn't take him long to break it if it wasn't the real deal.

  • I will buy one just because it looks so ugly.

  • Finally I can stop using my teeth!

  • +1

Lol either a mad sale or major site issues - a lot of items are currently $0.00 including this Star Wars bottle opener.

    • +1

Pop them in the cart though and see the cost spiral … That is what I did and couldn't work out what I would be paying (or not) for. At least it wasn't my jolly phone playing tricks on me.

  • +1

How long before this goes "missing" into hyperspace when "friends" are over for drinks?…doesn't matter, I bought one to find out!

    • Yes; same sad thought. Odd how things go missing with a few tea leafs about.

  • Purchased 5 as I figured these would make pretty good gifts. Total came to $44.19 AUD via PayPal.

  • well have purchased 4 via paypal lets see how long it takes to get here

  • so has anyone actually received their bottle opener?

    • +1

Yep, got mine in the mail the other day.

      • well that is reassuring thanks for the update

  • +3

Received mine today. Total con as pointed out in other posts, there are three pictures on CleverClad with the third photo of a VERY inferior flat (and tiny) product being the one delivered.

    • thank you for the clarification. mind taking a couple of pics please?

    • Yeah, same here. Bugger. I've raised a dispute with PayPal for counterfeit goods. We'll see what comes of it.

      • I might do the same (mine are crap as well)

    • Same here. It's crap compared to the pictures. Disputed it through PayPal.

      • +1

        Got my refund. Yay!

  • +3

    Don't buy it. IT'S A TRAP!
