ING Living Super - $100 Credited for Opening Account

Thought I'd post this as I think its targeted for existing ING customers and for the first 2,000 accounts.

Basically get $100 credited into your ING Orange Everyday Account by 31/12/2015. The 'Eligibility Criteria' is:

Living Super $100 Bonus Payment Offer - Existing ING DIRECT Customers
To be eligible for the $100 bonus payment, you must:

  • Register for the promotion, and
  • Open a Living Super account

I thought I might add this as well since it has been raised in the comments for previous free credit banking related deals
The account holder may incur a tax liability in relation to the $100 payment.

I don't see any downsides as you are not required to make 'x' number of transactions at 'y' dollar value.
Just open and close after a few months of zero balance I guess.

Full T&C's below:

The offer commences 8 October 2015 and is available to the first 2000 individuals who satisfy the Eligibility Criteria by 31 December 2015. This $100 bonus payment is paid by ING DIRECT. Maximum of one $100 bonus payment per person (this includes any payment made to an account jointly held by you). If you have previously held a Living Super account between 8 October 2013 and 7 October 2015, then you are ineligible for this offer. For eligible applicants, the $100 will be deposited into the applicant's Orange Everyday the month after you meet all applicable Eligibility Criteria. Where the eligible applicant holds the Orange Everyday account in a joint capacity, only one payment of $100 will be made to that account under the offer. The account holder may incur a tax liability in relation to the $100 payment.
This offer is available for a limited time only and is not applicable in conjunction with any other promotional offer unless expressly indicated. ING DIRECT reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time at its sole discretion. If withdrawn, ING DIRECT will honour all registrations entered before the offer is withdrawn, provided that applicants satisfy all the Eligibility Criteria.

You really need to post the T's and C's, which made me think twice about signing up for this.

    • +4

Not a swipe at you ddhh but I really don't like these "limit first 2,000 accounts" type conditions where it's unclear if you will get it or not. Obviously the $100 is being used as incentive to sign up but the conditions are like a competition.

Also "By registering, you've confirmed that if you receive the $100 bonus that you'll use this towards the cost of receiving financial advice or as a contribution to your superannuation account. (Remember that contributions caps apply)." Que?

    • I've signed up for this a week or two ago and have received the $100 in my ING everyday account already.

      • Same here.

    • I got this a few days ago, pretty sure its targeted? and with the using it for financial advice I'm pretty sure that's for tax reasons "The account holder may incur a tax liability in relation to the $100 payment."

    • +2

      Will there be any fee?

      • +2

There will be a default income protection insurance fee of about $7 per week, however you can opt out.

        • How can I opt out?

    • Also did this and received the $100 into my account. Good deal.

    • Damn already have a living super account with them :(

    • -2

Such promos should be illegal. Encouraging people to switch super in order to claim a 'freebie' now. Not unlike giving free iPads to kids for doing 'free' courses, which are paid for by the government (and limited to one course per person for life).

      • -1

Super is paid for by the government.

Can always open, cash out and then close.

        • +1

Super is paid for by the government.

No it's not. That has to be the most uninformed comment I've ever read on OzBargain.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

          Ooops.

          Was meant to type isn't.

    • Do I just need to open an account, or do I actually need to deposit/transfer my super into it?

      • +1

I signed up a few weeks ago and just recently received the $100 without depositing anything. I think I will close it now.

      • +1

No need to put money in the super account. I just opend a super account with them and haven't put any money in it yet and still go the $100.

        • How long did it take? I signed up today, but I'm not sure if I registered for the deal. I have 4 ING accounts and only got 3 emails offering the deal. I clicked the registration link in all 3 emails, but there's a chance the account I used to sign up was not one of those 3.

        • +1

@puffinfresh: It took approx 2 weeks from applying to reciving the money.

        • @karen_lee89: Thanks!

    • Cheers!

    • thanks op. I thought this was just their regular blablabla emails. Wouldn't have cared hadn't you posted it here. Thanks

    • Got the email today, and just opened the account. How long did it take for everyone to get the $100 and does it go into your normal account or the new super account?

      • +1

        Take long to sign up?

        • if you have an ing account, its about 20 seconds, everything is inputted and they already have your abn

    • Looks like it is targeted e-mail. I checked my e-mails from ING and couldn't find any mention of this offer.
When I log in to my account and look at all options, including application for Super, there is no mention of $100.

      T&C:
To be eligible for the $100 bonus payment, you must:

      Register for the promotion

Does anyone have any idea how to register for the promotion?

      • +1

its not clear if its targeted. I followed link in my email and it then links to a page with my name like follows:

        https://www.campaigns.ingdirect.com.au/lsadvice?n=idiot
        https://www.campaigns.ingdirect.com.au/lsadvice?n=ozbargaine…
ing should be careful, people can just put filth and it will appear with their logo and stuff

but it does appear in My applications when I log in, not on the side menu links like a started application, just on the screen, you have to scroll down and hit apply, as if it would be there for everyone

        • haha:
Thanks idiot, you’ve successfully registered your interest!

Does the URL include your full name or just first name (just trying to work out if it's worth putting mine in)

          ie:
          n=totalidiot

first name being total, idiot being last name ?

In any case, very quick process to apply, so I'd say worth doing regardless if its targeted or not…

        • So, obviously you need a specific link to register then. And this link is being sent by ING by e-mail to selected customers.

        • @dunc05: just your first name

        • It is targeted. my family members have ING accounts. I received an invitation but they don't.

They give an email link to your personal email to the offer with your first name on it.

        • @grasstown:
What if someone else has the same first name? What if 10 John's register. They can't all have the same link. Unless you don't really have to register.

        • @skywalka: I think it doesn't depend on the link. If you're in their targeted list (email sent) then you are in their system. And the bonus will be given when you opened the account. The link is just to bring you to the promotion page added with your name

    • It looks like this is a targeted offer.

    • So you can just open it, wait for the $100 and then clese it? No deposits or fees?

    • By registering, you've confirmed that if you receive the $100 bonus that you'll use this towards the cost of receiving financial advice or as a contribution to your superannuation account. (Remember that contributions caps apply).

Anyone actually going to follow this?

      • +4

I will advise my wife to invest more in super, and she will advise me the same, and in return we will pay each other $100

  • any link which explains the offer?

  • +2

I just opened a super account with them, missed out on the offer by a few days, made a call to customer service and they said they will get their super team to ring me back tomorrow. Will see what happens..

  • +4

There's some question if this is targeted?
    …Da da, da, da!…
So I asked, here's the reply:

  • Shweet thanks OP !

  • i just got this email promo today looks like all the same except
This offer is limited to the first 5,000 applicants who satisfy the
eligibility criteria by 31 March 2016.

will try tonight to open account but wont rollover any super ehehe

    • Me to!!!!

      • Have you all applied and received $100?

        • yes

        • @eisniwre: Interesting, I have not got mine yet. When did you open your account and get the $100?

        • @compache: 9/2/16 or a day after. you better call them and confirmed. in my case the staff couldnt find my name on the "email list" and ask me to fwd the email i got (that mentioned the offer). once i fwded, she called back and says no problem you got the email so you will get the $100

        • @eisniwre: Thank you very much for the advice. I'll let you know how I go.

        • @eisniwre: Just gave them a call, my name wasn't on the 'email list' either! Just had to forward it as well! Glad I saw this and called :)!

        • @compache: with your email does it say this offer is limited too x amount of people by a certain date just realised mine says 31st of december 2015 so proberly not eligable damnn

        • @TheStahh: Yes it does. The customer service officer told me their is an issue for people who are listed on the MOBILE APP register and the email register. Apparently people were put one or both of the lists. I was on both but replied to the email version and for some reason it hadn't registered properly because my name was missing of the email list register - even though I got the email. Worth calling and checking though. Also check your mobile phone app to see if it is hidden in there!

        • @compache: Just wanted to confirm to everyone that I got my $100 after calling

  • Also received this email. I'd been looking at it for a bit and it did look like a pretty simple super system.

Will roll over a super account that i'd been meaning to consolidate into main super for about 5 years now - but since ing's super basically doesn't involve any (extra) fees if you take out the insurance and you aren't share trading it seems better value than leaving it in a super fund that charges fees and has basically the same return.

Will be interesting to see if the payment is also made but all this did was just remind me to do something and made it easy to do it..

  • applied n got $100 few days ago

    • When did u open the account?

      • 9/2/16 or a day after

        • I applied on 10/2 and still haven't received $100. Should I call them up?

        • @xwon123: read above posts maybe you need

        • @eisniwre:

Just called. They said it takes around 30 days to process.

  • Damn missed this….

  • I got an email about this yesterday. First 5,000 applicants who satisfy the eligibility criteria by 31 March 2016.

  • +1

The offer commences 21 March 2016 and is available to the first 5,000 individuals who satisfy the Eligibility Criteria by 31 May 2016

    https://www.campaigns.ingdirect.com.au/living-super/bonus

    • Thanks mate, was hoping they kept this promo running.

    • Late reply I know… but I'm now just looking into this one. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong (or others have had a different experience) but it look like the eligibility criteria is more involved for this promo as compare with the earlier promo. One of the conditions that apparently now needs to be met is:

"Rollover or set up an employer contribution that’s received into your Living Super account before 30 June 2016."

"Your $100 bonus payment will land in your Orange Everyday the month after you complete the above steps".

  • +1

Extended to 30 June. And yes you need to make a contribution whether that be a rollover of existing fund or your next SCG.

No exit fees from ING so I suppose if you were happy to give your HR department a hassle you could elect ING for one pay cycle then switch back. Then rollover the ING super back into your existing account.
