Scanpan - Satin 5pc Cookware Set $139 + Shipping (RRP $519, Norm $219) @ Victoria Basement (PayPal REQ)

180

I personally already have parts of this set so it is not worthwhile for me to purchase. It is very solid and I have no complaints.

They usually sell this set at $219 http://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/Product/Details/68952 and since the link isn't advertised on their website, I'd say it is a really good price.

Kitchenware has the same set at $249 http://www.kitchenwaredirect.com.au/Scanpan-Commercial-5pc-S…

There is also this link for a Jamie Oliver Tefal combo http://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/Paypal but under the terms it seems to be a deal for last year. No idea if it works.

"Manufactured under rigid specifications in China"

  • Does it include shipping?

    • I think it does, did a dummy purchase with paypal and it brings it to $139 total

      • $9.95 shipping (Sydney)

        • thanks I'm not sure how to edit title

        • @googoogaga: thank you OP. just edit plus shipping. click edit.

  • Like them for induction stove.

    • Are these really good with induction?

How many layers? And any copper core?

Is that place like Victoria's Secret but where they keep the models in between shoots, in a basement, cooking with Scanpan stuff?

Don't diss my Victoria's Secret babes, mate. They're absolutely beautiful and I don't care how shallow I sound.
And yes, I watch the fashion show every year even though fashion is something foreign to me.

it puts the lotion in the basket

    • No but u will find plenty housewives there. No not the desperate type housewives. Real Sydney housewives

  • no deal if you ask me.

slightly more on ebay (kitchenware direct) but come with glass lids (pods are the same).

    • How much? Link please, thanks

      • Did a bit more study and wrote to cancel my order.
Think 69 referred to the Scanpan Impact for $186 free delivery, compared to $148 delivered on this deal (in my case).
OP linked to eBay kitchen direct the Scanpan Commercial as exact the same set. This Satin looks different from the commercial which has higher RRP and longer heat resistant on handles and metal lid. I cannot google anything about Satin on Scanpan.com.au - which make me pondered.
Stuck back to my existing JO Tefal - with the plastic handle. Just remember story from my friend who is a new commercial cook - keep burning herself after touching not metal handle after leaving the pan oo long on stoves and grab without a towel.

We don't cook enough at home so save my money.

        • What is the reason for neg vote?

It is still a good deal on price point for Scanpan but any one knows what the "Satin" set is.

        • @eatwell365:
          Great service from Victoria Basement.
Their prompt response on a Sunday:

"The Scanpan Satin Range is exclusive to Victoria’s Basement which is the reason for not being able to find information regarding this Range on the Scanpan website. Satin and Commercial are very similar. Both are made from 18/10 stainless steel and both have an impact bonded base, however, the Commercial Range has a heavier base and restaurant style hollow handle."

Honestly, would have more confident to buy from VB than on eBay. Genuine Scanpan has the three layers base technology. Hard to tell if there are fakes.

        • @eatwell365:

eBay is from Kitchendirect. So should be legit.

VB is like bunning. Lexclusive by minor alterations. Look the same to "impact" but with metal lid.

  • Why do they have non insulated handles?

    • I have some similarly designed Scanpan Impact cookware, the handles are fine in normal use, but they will burn you if you put them in the oven. I find them easier to clean than insulated handles

Heh, I was looking at these the other night, as we're currently shopping for some cookware for our new kitchen. Only one pan makes this set a bit of a non-starter - I think we're going to go with a Duxtop set from Amazon. They're already bloody cheap, but we'll wait for Black Friday in case something better comes along.

    • Thanks, Looked Duxtop up. Read this article titled "Don't buy Duxtop unless you read this".

      • +1

Yeah there's a bunch of reviews like that around the net, written as though they're from a pro-forma. The Amazon reviews are all pretty outstanding, so even with a decent grain of salt it would appear Duxtop stuff is quite OK. And in any event, they're so damn cheap I'm going to take a punt, there's only so much that can go wrong with tri-clad stainless steel stuff after all!
