    • I also mainly play FIFA and Fallout 3 was the first RPG I ever played seriously. Played it every day after work/school for weeks until I finished it.

One of those games where I put off the final missions because I didn't want it to end. I highly recommend it to anyone who has even a casual interest in first person shooters.

If you like GTA you'll definitely enjoy it as well.

      • Yeah GTA was the only game I've ever really played outside of Fifa and I absolutely love it. Thanks for the advice man, happy gaming!

    • +1

Haha you sound like one of my mates at uni. He's more of a casual gamer who only plays Fifa and GTA as well coincidentally.

I will say this: With huge RPG's like this there's a bit of a learning curve at the start for someone with no experience. It can be overwhelming in the beginning, so literally force yourself to play for 10-15 hours if you have too while you learn the ropes. RPG's are the most rewarding games imo, and no one does it better than Bethesda. If you enjoy this, go and buy Oblivion, best game I've ever played in my life.

      • or kick back and watch someone else play for a while, you will end up wanting to have a go yourself, that is how I started playing the Fallout series to begin with, I watched my bf play it, and I figured the rules out to caravan (sort of - does anyone really fully understand the rules of caravan), so I got frustrated watching him and started my own game.

        • Haha yeah for the Platinum trophy on PS3 you had to play a lot of Caravan. Wanted to kill the guy across the table from me after a while haha

        • +1

@stevensx: I am in charge of all dice and card game chievos in our house. I kick ass at Liars dice too! A guy on xbox live asked me once did my bf get my Borderlands chievos - I get chievos for him, I never let the boys touch my games, they are all my chievos!

    • Go grab a copy of Fonv, play that for a bit and see how it goes.

Would be better to have an understanding of FO before diving into the new game. I'd imagine it'd make it more enjoyable.

      • make sure you buy the Ultimate edition if you do

Thanks. Im in no rush so happy to save $1 and a trip to the shops.

Family heading away in dec so i have 5 days to myself. Guess im sorted now :D

  • +3

Apparently it comes with a copy of Fallout 3. Sold!

    • +2

Yes, only for the Xbox One version.

      • Thats a whole lot of loss for the real world :)

    • Saw that too, insta-buy for me! Screw EB Games and not giving the voucher out if we price-match, what a load of garbage.

    • Sweet! That's sold it for me then. Never played FO3 so 2 games for $58 - winner winner chicken dinner! :D

  • Do I need to play FO3 to be able to understand the plot?

    • +2

Not at all. If youd like click here for a 5 minute synopsis of the story - but it's really not all that vital.

  • got one. was planning to preorder instore @JB today. but got this one instead.thanks OP

  • Can you link the game to your Steam account afterwards?

I remember linking a physical copy once (Might & Magic) but that was ages ago.

    • +1

Can confirm that the PC version of this game includes a Steam Key. The reason to use the DVD is if you don't have unlimited downloads / space on your HDD.

  • -6

I know this will be a great game.
But why so many positive votes?
$60 is cheap? What is the usual price?

    • seems like you accidently came to this site..fyi, its all about bargains

    • It was a legit question :(

      • Cheapest price yet.not sure what the prices would be once released.

$56.55 pre order is a great price for AAA game

    • For a big release game such as this $60 is very reasonable as they can usually be anywhere up to ~$90

2 days to go till I'm sick for the rest of the week……

    • Sick one day earlier to get enough sleep for the rest of the week?

      • You're right, i do feel a slight tickle in my throat.

  • +2

Thanks! I like this new trend of games releasing at the $60 mark these days.

  • Can the digital copy of fallout 3 be played on windows 10?

  • +1

So do they actually ship it straight away or do we wait till its released because Id like to preload the game via Steam if possible?

    • +2

      • +1

Thanks, after reading your comment I purchased a PC copy immediately. Hope it comes on time as well

  • why is it so hard to get digital copies so cheap.. damnit lol

  • I held out too long on the JB deal; but as it turns out I was actually waiting on a better deal! Thanks OP!

  • My pre-order was posted Friday, hoping it gets to WA by Wednesday :)

    Thanks Gamesman!

    • I revoke my comment, posted on the 6th Nov and still dont have it (16th Nov now) not happy!!!

  • duplicate**

  • Cheers OP!

  • +1

Wow…PC version all sold out….that sucks. Great deal though

    • Yeah just missed the PC deal too. Bugger. :(

  • Does the JB order come with the perks poster too?

    • every pre-order comes with one

    • I called up my local JB yesterday (Nunawading) - they said it doesn't come with any pre-order bonuses.

      • yeah but the poster is in the box. It SHOULD be there.

        • ITS IN THE BOX Just had to shout that out :)

  • Good post Op.

LOL - paid $US60 for a steam download for me and my son :(

Much prefer download versions these days though. Haven't had any shelf space left for a long time now.

    • So do I, I like to keep all of my PC games in one tidy place, Steam. This physical PC game however does include a Steam download, you don't need to use the DVD.

      • Wow, now I am really bummed…

        • +1

Haha it's ok, most people didn't know, have told a few people on OzBargain already. The only reason why anyone would really use the DVD copy is if the don't have space on the HDD or in most cases don't have the download capabilities for a file >20gb in size. If you're super tight on money you can request a refund but otherwise it's just a case of live and learn :)

        • +1

          @stevensx:

What's it got to do with HDD space? You still need to be able to install the game, regardless of the DVD. Also, interesting tidbit - the FO4 DVD isn't going to have the full game on it. Much the opposite in fact; you'll need to download most of it via Steam. Quite absurd indeed.

          http://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-4-pc-discs-dont-con…

        • +1

@fLaMePrO: That's to prevent piracy. And yes as a blanket rule the game install is still required however it is usually smaller - Its up to the developer's discretion to decide how much to install vs how much to remain on disc. Its entirely possible that a digital version can actually take up more space than whats on the entire disc. Some games may only benefit from having a few assets on the hard drive and can run mostly off the disc.

        • @stevensx:
Yep live and learn and game.
As long as the code works tomorrow I guess it doesn't matter - and their download servers are up to the job as half the planet tries to load the game for the first time and update…

        • @stevensx:

"Some games may only benefit from having a few assets on the hard drive and can run mostly off the disc". Except they don't? It's a Steam game. So the game is running off the HDD no matter what method you used to purchase the game. I don't know any games that even require the disc to play anymore, let alone use it in lieu of loading game data onto the PC.

Also please, it does not prevent piracy. That's what they claim but it's complete bogus. Pirates will get the game no matter what, this isn't going to change anything.

  • No email to confirm shipping, agghh, I won't be playing this tomorrow!

    • Yeah same here :(

      • Same here … Should've bought the steam version!

        • me four :'(

        • @horus85:

          GAMESMEN! (Khan style)

        • @FabMan:

SHIPPED… via normal parcel post… which means I won't get it for 2-3 days anyway.

        • @Knightelf:

I got mine today but the disc isn't read by my machine and there is a scratch on the disc!

Fortunately a Steam code was supplied, full 24GB download. Well at least I have the perk chart.

        • @FabMan:

I receive mine today. My disc works, but it only comes with the installer. Full 24gb download for me too. Should've just bought the Steam version lol.

  • Anyone workout how to preload the game on steam before putting the serial key?
So that I can play as soon as the game arrives :D

    • Don't think you can..

      • damn, was being hopeful.

        • I hope the game comes on a DVD… and patches etc. won't take too long to download.

  • argh i wanted pc version.. I wish steam had a deal :(

    • The early bird catches the worm!

      • nvm found it for $60 :)

  • Ozgameshop are taking their sweet time, so I went down to EB and price matched it with target's $64 deal.

Stayed up til 3am last night waiting for the key to come, but apparently ozgameshop ran out and were waiting on their manufacturer. My order status says shipped but I'm still waiting.

  • +1

Spoke to thegamesmenau yesterday. They were packing all the orders from morning onwards, top guys to be honest.

Understandably they said if my order wasnt shipped yesterday then chances are the 11th it would be shipped.

Good service from them, no complaints, just reaaaaaally keen on getting this game

  • Does anyone know how I can track my order on auspost through gamesmen? They say its shipped but I cant track it

    • +1

It seems they don't have tracking for standard shipping.

  • Anyone received copy of their game in Melbourne yet? I thought it might arrive today, but no luck. Was advised that was shipped on Friday.

    • +1

This Gamesmen deal started on Sunday…how could it have shipped on Friday?

      • +1

Sorry, good point, posted comment in wrong Gamesmen deal, I got earlier $58 deal

        • did u get yours yet? ….

        • @mp3police: I am still waiting for mine :(

        • @Derekhuang24:
          same … pretty slack
dont see how anything could take 4 days to get sent anywhere in aus

        • @mp3police: I live in Melbourne south east, so it does take time for it to get from Sydney to Melbourne. Aus Post :(. I called gamesmen today and they said they were dispatched either Monday or Tuesday.

        • @Derekhuang24: i preordered in september and got an email saying it was sent friday ..

i just copied the steam files and used a crack to play it

        • still waiting on mine too :(

    • Another Melbourne buyer here. Gf ordered the PS4 version as a gift from their $59 deal before this and I'm pretty sure it said it'll arrive on the release date or a day after the release date but I still haven't received it and she said the tracking number doesn't work either.

I've ended up buying a PC version from JB Hi-Fi. I'm pretty disappointed with Gamesmen. Will definitely avoid them from now on. I'd rather pay extra 5-10 bucks to play on release date than wait forever for the game to arrive.

  • +1

Western Suburbs Melbourne, just got my copy, was jammed in my letterbox lol

  • Has any one from Melbourne received their copy yet?

    • when did you order yours? i ordered September and still nope

    • Got my copy in the mail this morning.

    • Got mine the mail as well about 20 minutes ago

  • still nothing yet. have exams so probably wouldn't have played it anyway, but still thought it would have arrived by now.

  • I'm still waiting for my copy :(

  • Was hoping to have it by the weekend. Does not look like that is gonna happen. Gotta love Aus Post

    • Same here! Said it was expected today, but nothing has arrived :(

      • Where are you located?

I am in Brisbane and it arrived yesterday.

If you got the PC version be prepared for a 24GB download!

        • +1

Yeah I am in Brisbane. Found it in my letterbox this afternoon. Praise the Lord!

        • Arrived this afternoon (XB1) and already installed ready to not move for a few hours haha :p

  • +1

ugh, i wanted this by the weekend! so disappointed at how slow the post is. Wish I'd at least been given a tracking number.
