Hi guys,

So coming up to the Holiday season and I'm thinking its time I upgrade my bucket of bolts for xmas. so I have a budget of $300 and I was thinking of upgrading the gfx card as I think that is my current bottleneck.

What can you guys recommend?

Yeah next upgrade would definitely be the graphics card. I would suggest either a GTX 970 or an AMD 390.

Both of these options are a $450 ~ $500 spend though.

In any case I would go with either the R9 380 (4GB) or the GTX 960 (4GB).

The R9 380 performs a little better against the GTX 960 but at an expense of additional power usage.

4GB 960 is pointless with a 128 bit bus, it's more of a marketing tool so people buy the 4gb thinking 4gb is 2 times as good as 2GB. You're better off getting a 970 because that at 4GB, with a 256 bit bus will demolish things for years to come

  • I recommend the graphics card too you Ozbarginer you…

  • Cheers guys,

I was hoping for a GTX970 Price drop before xmas, would love to grab one of those cards but it is just way over budget.

I'm sliding toward the GTX 960 OC 4GB, but after watching reviews, its still mid range (plus a year old) I think it will be obsolete by 6 months time :(

Will have to wait for the xmas sales and see what happens
