Transferring money from the UK

Hi all. My partner who is English currently has approx 7,000gbp in her English bank account (Lloyd's TSB) which she wants to bring over. Was hoping someone knows the best way to bring this money over to Australia with minimal costs and best exchange rates.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

I used ukforex, I also transferred from Lloyds.
it is the same company as Ozforex and has very competitive rates.

If you would like a referral code pm me your email and we will both get £50 amazon gift card if your girlfriend signs up and transfers some monies.

Kiz, i'm in a similar situation to you. I've got some GBP savings from when I was working in the UK. At the current exchange rate, i'm tempted to bring the money back to Australia. Ozforex is a reputable company, its listed on the ASX and has been around for a number of years and does offer very competitive rates as dasher86 noted. No fees if you transfer above a certain amount.

When I do eventually bring the GBP back, I probably will be using ozforex/ukforex, if that helps.

  • I've used Klickex to transfer money to and from the UK. Good exchange rates, and fees are trifling (25c or 25p to transfer to your bank account)
Never had any problems. Worth a look.

  • +1 for UK and Ozforex

Used them loads of times and have never had a problem or surprise local fee as i've experienced with others.

  • +1 ozforex. I use them to send money to Canada. Canadaforex to send money to AU. All part of the same company. Ring them up. They have good customer service. Sometimes can w as waive fee for sending less than $10,000

  • I am unsure if this helps for larger amounts of money but I use to send money home each month for my mortgage and I got a duplicate card with a PIN on in and posted it to my parents. Then each month I would let them know how much to pull out and put on the mortgage or other bills and we would only pay the international bank use fee which was around $4. Again I am unsure if this is helpful as I tried to use some of the transfer companies and for the fees it was not worth it for me monthly but for a lump sum it may be useful if you can get a better rate.

  • Maybe look into opening a bank account with HSBC as I believe you can link overseas accounts and transfer funds between them. I had quick look into it for USA account but not entirely sure how it all works
