what is the difference between a $200 blender and an $800 dollar blender? It's still just spinning blades in a jug right?

    • the motor and the jug/blades

If that.. The Kogan blender has handled everything we've thrown in it without issue. And that was under $100.

    • At its core, yes. But theres a lot to improve on. For instance, I own three blenders, and none of them will properly blend a fish. It always ends up stuck to the side. I would pay $800 for a blender, that could blend fish and was easy to clean.

What do you do with the blended fish?

        • I..eat it
Little bit of a strange question o.O

        • @outlander:
I just thought you might have a special recipe for blended fish, like a fish meat balls. My cat also likes blended fish.

        • @nfr:
No, I just have trouble with the bones.
Recipes are too complicated for me. After all, everything tastes much the same when its blended together

        • @outlander:
You mean using Vitamix to pulverise the bones? That's a good idea, I''ll have to try that.

        • @nfr:
It also hides the revolting taste of the entrails. Sardines. Ticks all the boxes except for taste :)

This one has a small jug. I reckon the total nutrition centre is more useful, $40 cheaper too - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Vitamix-Total-Nutrition-Centr…

    • comes with 1.2L jug and 2* 600ml small container jugs like the ninja blender

LOL - MUST BE A JOKE POST

Unless you try one, I wouldnt mock it.

We make a lot of fruit smoothies and shakes at home and we use to go through a blender every year to two years. These blenders were pretty good branded blenders costing $100-$300. I bought my Vitamix about 7 years ago and it hasnt missed a step. There are also benefits of making soups, etc.

If you dont blend ice or use your blender a lot, then you are right, not needed.

I see it the same as a Dyson in this case, you get what you pay for.

      Cheers!

    • It's almost definitely overkill for most home kitchens. These are commercial grade machines used in places like Boost Juice, Cafes, etc. marketed to people who want "the best" for whatever reason, and can afford it.

Omniblend, same motor, same jug, basically same product re-branded. It doesn't just make smoothies, it makes shakes, with solid stuff. Half the price or less.
I'm entering my 3'rd year with one.
    Check it on youtube.

    • I had a froothie blender.. optimum 9400. The claims that it is the same motor or stronger motor than a vitamix and higher RPM etc which very well could be true.. however after purchasing a vitamix pro 300, the difference was night and day.

I think the key is the blade and jug design. The optimum 9400 has 6 blades and yet it did not blend to the desired smoothness as quickly as the vitamix. Also there is a big difference in build quality.

Again I can't compare it with the omniblend but there was big difference to a cheaper copy.

      • Sure - but the Omni is basically a re-badged Vita in almost all ways.
It's ridiculous the beating it will take. I grind up some SERIOUS stuff in the morning, very very thick and it can take it.
Frozen avocado, frozen spinach, entire lemon, ginger, beetroot, almonds, etc.

  • I used the same offer and purchased the Vitamix 5200, I've been waiting a long time for an offer to get this blender! I got the 5200 instead as I assumed the S30 is more of a 'personal' blender, more comparable to the Nutribullet. Anyway, I have received mine and have tried making a few smoothie. The machine is very impressive so far, nothing like any of my previous blenders/food processors. Still a very expensive purchase though, hope it lasts me at least 10 years!

Edit: Just realised the Vitamix 5200 are sold out at both Peters and Kitchenware Direct.
