Apocalypse Now 3-Disc Disclosure Edition Blu-Ray $24.29 Shipped ($23.44 after Cash Rewards Cashback) @ eBay

50

First things first - this is the Canadian region release of the Disclosure Edition. For die-hard completists this is NOT the same as the American version which included a 48-page collectible booklet with never-before-seen archives from the set and possibly a cardboard slipcase or digi-cover or the european versions which come with a 22 page booklet, 14 page 1979 original theatrical program and some 'post cards'. As best as I am aware these physical extras are the only difference between the Canadian version and other regions. If you want the American edition then you are looking at north of AU$36 on ebay. Also of note, some of the dvd versions have some additional disc content not found on any of the blu-ray releases http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=16945 I personally don't care about physical extras but I do care about picture/audio quality and overall completeness of the film. Digital extras are a bonus and I seek out those too where possible.

Lowest price I have seen previously or can find currently. This was previously sold in Australia (and featured on Ozbargain 4 years ago for $24.98) although I don't know if that version had the booklet. Me and a friend went halves on two copies shipped from Amazon Canada two months ago and paid $24.65 each.

The picture quality on the blu-ray version of this movie is the best available for sale publicly with Francis Ford Coppola having personally supervised the transfer to blu-ray. Again this is as best as I am aware so please do your own research if that sort of thing concerns you. It concerns me and I think I did a definitive read of reviews and other releases of this epic film.

At the time of posting the store is listed as 80 sold and more than 10 available.

Region encoding - this is listed as being Region A/1 however according to Blu-ray Region Code Info http://bluray.liesinc.net/ this is actually region free. I am yet to crack open my copy so I cannot confirm this however it is not uncommon for blu-ray releases hence the existence of the site.

The Australian version previously seen on Ozbargain for $24.98 is long out of print.

I left out one other important detail but can't edit the post because I think a mod added the @ebay to the title and removed the cashrewards tag (I should have noticed that tag was banned, sorry about that)

  • Great post. Thanks OP.

  • This is the best priced version to get at that the moment.

I did notice the Full Disclosure version comes with a 48 page collector'a booklet whilst the 3 disc Special/Collector's edition only includes a 22 page booklet but adds a reproduction of the 1979 Original Theatrical Program and 5 Exclusive postcards

        • Weird I'm not sure what to make of that. Here's it showing up for me added to my cart just now http://i.imgur.com/mngfo8M.jpg

        • @hetzjagd:

Looks like it could be an ebay problem with the latest Firefox 42.0 causing this to not show up. I click the link in Firefox and it says it has expired. Yet I can search for the listing on ebay using same Firefox and it finds the listing fine.

I can also click the Ozbargain link using old Internet Explorer and it find the ebay listing without any problems as well.
