Why can't I change an upvote to a neg?

So I initially up voted then it turns out the deal was ****. So I revoked and when I tried to downvote it I get this message:

"You have already voted on this deal. Your vote was subsequently revoked"

Any reason for doing this? It's a weird site policy

You can revoke your up vote.

Many times when I try to up vote a comment on my phone, I accidentally tap minus instead of plus but it seems you can't change those votes either.

I wonder whether they could have it timed so you can alter it within a minute period or something

THIS I have big fingers so this happens all the time to me.

I agree with having a 1 minute after to edit your vote

  • The ability to change your deal & comment votes (within a certain timeframe), not only just revoke them is something that has been requested a few times. We have discussed this recently and it is on Scotty's to do list.

      Awesome thanks Hamza23

  • We'll be implementing something to allow you to change your vote within the first minute due to fat-finger pressing the wrong button and wish to correct the mistake.

However we will not implement changing the vote after that short time-frame or after revoking. A vote is not an indicator how you feel about the deal right now, where you want to make change depending on whether it's raining or sunny. You voted, and that's it.

      Not good enough

Don't vote early, it doesn't get any more simple

        • that's right. Wait till you definitely know which way the bandwagon is going! :D :E :F :G

    • Just out of curiousity, is it possible to have an option for prompt for votes on mobile version and desktop version?
Sometimes, between slow internet and everything, I end up realising I've voted for something after one minute have been passed.

    • The 1-minute timeout for re-voting has been implemented for both deals and comments. However you lose the ability to re-vote if you reload the page.

    • I think there is are exception for allowing this.

A classic one would be you buy a product, the price is good and you plus one it. But then when you use it breaks down. I think you should be able to change your vote to a neg to warn others. (isn't that what neg is for or at least seems to be largely used for…?)

  • Perhaps each deal should have two vote counters:
    1. Hype / pre = people's opinion before they purchase
    2. Post-purchase = a much more reliable indicator from people who have actually purchased the item
