Moorabbin Costco grand opening tomorrow worthwhile?

Hi guys, The Moorabbin Costco is opening tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone knows if there will be special deals on the 'grand opening' day or if it's just the same as everyday? I don't want to go on such a busy day unless it's going to be really good deals! I've googled but I can't find much. Costco don't seem to release a lot of info.

  • Just received an email with their latest coupon offers, view them at http://costco.com.au/, top of the webpage.
Otherwise no grand opening offers I have seen.

  • I don't think they do much for openings that is special as they don't need to.

I would avoid Moorabbin Costco for a while based on the other store openings. Way too busy for at least 2 or 3 months and they won't have the drive way off Boundary Rd ready for a while so traffic to the site will be hell.

One good thing is fuel. I have done my last two fills there at under 1.10 per litre.

  • I agree to avoid. I've heard the openings are just crazy. Doesn't seem worth it.

  • Went along to VIP night tonight, lots of free food and drink. I don't think there is any open day specific deals from the looks of it though. I heard they give out free eggs or something though?

    • Yeah…I think I remember people talking about the free eggs at the Ringwood opening. Not worth it for the insanity. I might drop in there before the end of the week but only because I work on the other side of the airport (normally go to Ringwood because it is closer to home) and I want to pick up the Panansonic mini system that is on sale.

  • Anybody been yet? Worth going?

  • There were no new specials today, just the regular catalogue specials applicable to all warehouses. Plenty of tastings to be had though! Noticed that the permanent prices on the large fresh cakes, cheesecakes and pizzas were a a few dollars cheaper than the Docklands warehouse. Unleaded 91 Costco petrol was about 10 cents cheaper than nearby petrol stations.

  • Just after opening at 8am, organised groups of people were filling whole trollies of baby formula and the pallets on the floor emptied quickly. The staff at Costco had no problem with this at all!
