Decent cheap mobile phone, pref under $100

Hi all. My phone just some water damage during the lovely weekend weather, and I'm still on a Three plan till Oct. That means I'm looking for a quality, cheap phone under $100.

I only make calls and text, so no need for great Internet browsing or excess apps.

Small would be great too.

Thanks!

So it looks like you'll need a phone that is unlocked.

A quick Lasoo search has the following phones for under $50:

    Nokia 1209

    $44 from Officeworks http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/mobile-smart-phones/nokia-1209-outright-mobile-phone/4hggpcacb.html?source=search&sort=1Price|0&startNo=48&term=phone

    $48.87 from Dick Smith http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/mobile-smart-phones/nokia-1209-outright-mobile-phone/4hfa7l7hr.html?source=search&sort=1Price|0&startNo=48&term=phone

    $49.00 from Australian Post http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/mobile-smart-phones/nokia-1209-unlocked-phone/4hbay26zh.html?source=search&sort=1Price|0&startNo=48&term=phone

    Samsung B130

    $49 from Australian Post http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/mobile-smart-phones/samsung-b130-unlocked-phone/4hbay26wj.html?source=search&sort=1Price|0&startNo=48&term=phone

There were a few deals posted on OzBargain recently re no-frill, unlocked phones as well.

  • Thanks for that. Is Lasoo the best price search engine out there now?

  • We had a thread about this recently - and I see Dick Smith still has the Samsung E1070 for $37 as the cheapest in its selection:

On the DSE website click Check Store Stock to see if it's available at a store near you.

Also have a look at this one that was featured on the front page recently and will get to your letterbox for $27!

  • We have mobiles starting from $48.95

  • if you are on 3 you need a 3g phone, not sure if all mention is.
    just a side note!

  • Bugger. What's the cheapest 3g phone I can get?

  • I've been in contact with Three (what devious lot) and apparently the cheapest phone is the Nokia 2730. Prepaid is $130 or something.

Same phone is $99 with Optus pre-paid. Question is how do I unlock it so it'll work with Three?

Or, would it be better to go with an eBay Nokia 2730 which is unlocked. Would that be safe?

  • Oh well, I gave in and picked up a Sony T715 from Three. $169, locked for one year.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
