My mum watches HK and Chinese drama like everyday but her TVPAD 4 is recently banned. I am trying to find a reliable but relatively cheap smart DNS for her that could unblock MyTVB(hk) and other mainland video sites (eg Youku, Tudou) etc. I also noticed in the past that MyTVB got some mechanisms to counter smart dns so it could be a bit tricky.
FYI, VPN is ok but not preferred coz it's not seamless for her.
