Not Satisfied and Exiting TPG Who Is Asking for Exit Fee ($11): How to Waive off?

Sorry, OzBargainers - long time viewer but first time asking help or writing something.

Recently, I have upgraded my TPG (Optus Sim) to TPG (Vodafone Sim) using 2 months free offer.

Soon after, I feel that I am breaking out when I go in parking or in shopping center. I have lodge the complain to them very next day that I am facing difficulty downloading data (i.e. small PDF(1 page black & white writing only) may take upto 1.5 to 2.0 minutes in 4G network) and when I go to shopping center signal strength is very low or NO Signal. Upon spending many hours with TPG Technical team, I have been advised that keep checking signal strength and if is low or NO Signal you could switch to Optus (i.e. Roaming Network) within simcard.

Next visit on shopping center, I was checking signal till it dropped out, and then select "Roaming Network" Manually, and got error "Can't connect to this network at the moment. Try again later."

I called TPG and advised that I can not stand on dropping out network + keep checking signal strength while going somewhere. I need easy solution or Move back to Optus network. They said Nope - cant do that.

Also, advised me that if I exit TPG there is $11 admin fee for exit. I told them that I am exiting because of poor coverage - and fee should be waived off. They refused it.

Please advise?

07/12/2015 : Ported out to Amaysim - TPG offer for 6 months.

it boggles my mind that TPG have the balls to ask for an exit fee when its their fault you are leaving

the sheer balls on these mothers, unbeleiveable

    • Agreed. Pay the $11 and move on.

      • This is how they make money from people like my parents because they can never be bothered with anything. I threatened them with ATO and they waived the $11.

        • Thanks everyone, I understand it is not worth $11 but its about ethics as well. I am with TPG since 2008 and all I want is good coverage.

How ATO will be come in this picture? Or you are referring to TIO (www.tio.com.au)?

What was the ATO going to do?

        • @ca4cpa: They probably mean TIO but SERIOUSLY this over $11 I know I know it is the principle but it isn't worth it IMO

        • @knick007:
Yes, that is true but can be use as a threat? If required.

        • @ca4cpa: Yes

@knick007: This is OzB after all, we are all for keeping our (hard earned) dollars and cents, no? Plus, if they aren't entitled to it, why should one relent?

@the4thzodiac: In general I agree but not for $11 I mean by the time you call them a few times you aren't really saving anything.

          @ca4cpa:
Yes I meant ATO. I feel utterly embarrassed now…

$11 isnt a big deal but I'd rather give that money to a beggar on the streets than to David Teo, the multimillionire who owns TPG and iinet etc.

its the principle of the thing… all the OP has to say is, i'm taking this to the TIO and they'll cave in, thats it

didnt know ozbargain was so generous to needy millionaries, its a great world we live in

  • yeah its their fault for stuffing you and thousands of other people around. assholes. this story makes me want to quit TPG. do NOT pay it! just say they're ruining your life and don't get off the phone until they do what you want. be assertive.

lodge a TIO complaint. TPG will end up waiving the $11 and the TIO charges them for the complaint. They deserve to get screwed for trying to screw over others.

  • to be fair its a good strategy for free money

i'm guessing heaps of people will be like half of ozbargain and write off $11… hey man, its too much of my time, here's free money TPG, you need it more than me

  • Wish I knew this before I moved from TPG. They also charged me the $11 and whatever credit I had under $20…
I am quite happy with Amaysim though and I used one of the previous Ozbargain deals to make it more worthwhile when I moved…

  • Thought I'd let you guys know my experience…

TPG is literally the worst company I've ever dealt with. went 1 week without being able to receive any calls due to them… refuse to refund me… refuse to care. Worthless. Ignored me the second i told them i was fed up with their service and NEEDED to buy another sim and number.
