Aus to Japan Power Adapter

Going Japan at the end of the week and need to get an Australia to Japan Power Adapter ASAP.

I'm happy with 2/3 prong for AUS input since my connectors are all 2 prong.

Where can I get one cheap in-store? I live in Melbourne so somewhere in the CBD would be good.

  • Don't buy one in Australia. All the Australian ones will not include the 3rd prong "cutout", as soon as you land in Japan any electronics store still have an adapter. Are you taking the NEX from Narita Airport to Tokyo? I know you said you don't need the 3 prong but at the last minute you could need something which is. If you are Taking the NEX and using a japan rail pass, right next to the rail pass office in Narita airport there is a phone store about 10 feet away in the same hall, in that store you can get international adapters for 11,000 en. ($11-$13 depending on exchange rate)

DSE will be best place to buy, or any travel or luggage shops for Type A.
Keep in mind, Japan is 110v, not 220v, so only 110v compatible devices will work :)

  • Cheapest is to get them from Japan if you can.
    A 2-prong adapter (for Japan/USA only) costs about 300yen.

Just came back from Japan a week ago.

many hotels will have a converter either in socket or at check in desk
so you will be able to use for first night
then just grab a cheap one from many of the electronic stores…prices are pretty much same shop to shop

bring a aussie power board though
    =)

  • are you just after a plug adapter? i have a spare 2 prong adapter. PM me a delivery address and I'll I send you one free.
