Hi all, I am terrible with mobile phones in general (especially android) and would appreciate some help. Mum needs a new phone for her Aldi Sim with enough storage space. Is the A3 at $223 at 16GB a good price?
I want to get her a name brand phone, something that looks nice. Any comments would be good.

Remember to factor in costs of unlocking the device. Some phones are easier and cheaper to unlock. Huaweis are generally very cheap to unlock.
Most of them are about $3-7 these days anyway :) I don't really worry too much about that, more worried about the specs and purchase price. Obviously you'd be nuts not to check the unlock price before purchase though.
Rip-off. Get the Alcatel Pixi 4.5 for $69 from Optus. 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM + Lollipop not some knock off Android import. Or a Leon which is $79 at Woolies this week.
Thanks mate. LG Leon looks good, just need to unlock this puppy. Yeah I personally don't care about brands but I prefer to gift a person a name brand phone.

The Leon has the ultra sensitive screen as well which is good :) Didn't realise the specs on the Alcatel's were improving that much. They are French though? I have a couple of the down-market model Alcatel's at home as a wifi hub and they are close to useless for anything.
Alcatel is now a chinese brand. TCL owns it.
Only issue was a lock up first run before optimising apps. Although maybe I didn't wait long enough. No issues since. Comes with a notification LED. You won't find a better phone at that price currently.

Personally (check your MHZ first) I recommend the Doogee X5 Pro or the LG Leon (which is allegedly $79 around the place this week)
