  Did a test booking within the dates specified and yes came up $1.00 for MEL> LAX. Just be aware if may not work for multi-trip. Eg i tested MEL to MCO and it wanted to charge $95. By the looks of it in order to get the $1.00 fee your final destination needs to be LAX/SFO/Houston or Vancouver.

  I thought you were allowed two bags of 70 pound weight fir any itineraries that include North America. Has this chabged? Because they say you can only have three total and only one at $1.

    Pretty sure economy is only 1 bag x 23kg now for economy. it was 2 going back 4-5 years but since then has changed.. well for airnz anyway

    According to Qantas - for economy:

    2 pieces up to 23kg (50lb) each

    So yes, they are trying to do the "increase the price but discount it heavily so hopefully no one will notice" trick. I would neg it, but the US allowance has been overly generous compared to other destinations.

  Is anyone really going to book a flight because a second bag is $1?

  It's really about the price of the fare, not the price of the second bag.
