I know nothing about Steam gift cards but I have a Secret Santa who is keen on getting one.
I read that they were available through EBGames and JB HiFi, but I can't see any reference to them on their websites.
Are there ever any deals on Steam gift cards?

Holy crap have they risen in price.
I bought mine when they were $27 each, although back in May they were $23.
The ones you buy through EB Games are just codes printed on a receipt, usually. (Although they can staple it to a steam wallet card for easier giving.)
It's typically $29 for a $20USD card.
Now, the ones that you purchase at places like Woolworths, Coles, Dickies, ect, are $20, however once redeemed will undergo currency conversion on steam itself, giving a portion of the face value of the card. (Your $20 soon turns into $13 - 14USD)

Coles and Safeway sell LoL cards too - no idea how they'll work in your case, but it should be available at every Coles/Safeway.

I'm confirming that Coles has them because I just saw them for the first time two hours ago! I was also thinking how the currency values work out.

JB has them. Amount on card gets converted to USD when you enter the code into Steam.
EBgames definitely has them. You can see them on the wall. It's about $29 for a $20 gift card
I also think that you can get them in Coles, believe it or not.
