And somehow I either have them already, or don't want the others. Damn it

    • Any recommendations for small groups from the list?

      • +3

Sheriff Nottingham, brilliant little game that involves trying to bluff your way through the sheriff so you can smuggle as much contraband for points as possible.
Forbidden Island is a small co-op game where you try to secure several treasures before you are overtaken by a tide that is coming in to cover the island.
Pandemic, brilliant co-op game again about trying to prevent a pandemic on a global scale, also has a couple of really good expansions that make the game even harder.

There are plenty on that list, but those 3 would be my pick for a medium priced/small group game.

        • +1

Pandemic is great for evenly matched groups (it fails when I play with my kids who insist on doing their own thing instead of the best moves for the team - we call it "we got a rogue medic").
Ticket to Ride is a tremendous game for people who have not had games beyond monopoly or cluedo. Works pretty well with 3 players, 2 is ok, but not as good. Probably best with 4 players.
I haven't played it, but lots rave about sentinels of the multiverse if you like comic books style adventure.

          @mskeggs:
And Sushi Go is an great 10minute filler cute card game. Suitable from age 7 up (although the bit of tactics involved can be more than a 7yro can handle sometimes).

        • +1

Is Pandemic and Cluedo something you play over and over again? I avoid trivia pursuit because you can't.

        • @bargainist: Yep. they are.

      • +1

I like Ticket to Ride, up to 5 players but still fun with just 2 people.

      • +1

        I would say,

Pandemic - prob the best game in the list overall. Appeals to most. A co-op game so everyone works together and either wins or loses together.
        https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30549/pandemic

Five Tribes - a heavier more thinky game, but still easy to wrap your head around. Really only if you think you already have an interest in modern board gaming, but if you do this is a great next step.
        https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/157354/five-tribes

Ticket to Ride - I'd say the europe version is the best first buy if its available.
        https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/14996/ticket-ride-europe
        OR
Takenoko - slightly above Ticket to Ride in complexity, but not by much at all.
        https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/70919/takenoko

Obviously the best choices make the most of the free one, don't buy 2 $40 games and 1 $10 game.

Camel up surprised us with how good it is. Plus, it's not one of those long arduous games.

        • +1

Just got the expansion pack for it today. Gives 4 extra options per a go for a total of 8. Definitely recommend

      • I vote for Forbidden Island. It is a very fun co-op (rare) game where everyone wins or everyone loses so you have to work together to beat the game. Great with beer and a few friends.

    Shipping & handling: AUD 76.36

    Jesus, no thanks!

    • Yeah, game boxes are big and bulky. I bought a few when there was that Amex deal for shipping.

    • +1

I got a shipping of around $30 USD, but considering i got 3 games which at cheapest i can get for ~$65-73, it is a great deal. I spent ~$150 for the 3, when i should have paid closer to ~$210

      • shipping kinda kills it. I wouldn't buy 3 games at once usually but so tempting. is it worth the savings to purchase 3 games i wouldn't normally once for roughly 15-20% saving on individual prices?
        damn you ozbargain!

        • It was for me - I bought 3 games, two of which sell for 80-100 over here, plus a third that seems to sell for around 60, for a total of 170 AUD delivered, instead of 220.

    • +1

Yeah, but even including shipping, this probably works out cheaper than buying the same games locally… And yet, Gerry will still tell you that it's the 10%GST that is killing retail!

  • Is this US only or does it include UK Amazon?

As i am a keen board gamer, i will add these that i have found:

    7 Wonders

3-7 Players, has high complexity and strategy, and difficult to know how to win. There are three basic strategies in the game, and incorporates point system and card picking/passing system.
    Watch it played here

    BANG! The Bullet Edition

3-7 Players. Includes the base game and all the current expansions. I have played the base game and found it very fun. It involves an element of deception and teamwork.View a video here

    Munchkin: Deluxe Edition

3-6 Players. Dungeon Style adventure game. I have heard many good things about it although i have not yet played it myself. My boardgame supplier usually sells a lot of these.View it being played on tabletop here

    OP update it!

    • Munchkin is great, the deluxe doesnt have much more on the traditional card style.

      • Deluxe just has a board which makes it easier to keep track of player levels and a little harder to cheat. ;)

        • but what if i have a 'cheat'card ;)

          Also munchkin counter apps.

        • @dasher86: Cheat cards are the best!

& only if the apps keep in sync and people don't double tap :P

    • Updated!

  • How does the discount get applied. Added 2 board games to the cart and when I checkout, I couldn't see the discount.

    • Need to add 3 games that are part of the discount, then when you go to the Checkout the discount should apply.

    • make sure they are sold directly by amazon
then before you finalise double check to make sure the promotion is applied.

      • Got it. Thanks!

This should help find the games on offer:
    https://www.google.com/search?q="Buy+2+get+the+3rd+free+boar…

  • I wanted to get Sushi Go, Forbidden Island and Ticket to Ride which are all part of this buy-2-get-1 deal, however as an Ozbargainer, I don't think I'm getting a good enough bargain with the prices. Sushi Go is $10.84, Forbidden Island is $15.44 and Ticket to Ride is a whopping $39.06 which puts Sushi Go as the free game whose price is not even half of Ticket to Ride. If I forego TTR, does anyone have a recommendation for another family type game suitable for playing with an 8 and 10y.o, which is around the price range of the other two?

    • +1

I would say Roll For It but I don't think it's part of the sale.

Check joedodgy for sushi go? He doesn't sell it for that much. You're only saving about $2 by getting it from Amazon over joedodgy. This deal works out much better if you get the bigger games

      • thanks mate, I agree on the deal being better for the bigger games…what I want to get would probably work out better if they had discounts for each one..last year's discount + amex free shipping would be excellent :D

  • King of Tokyo is also available as part of the deal and is pretty awesome, with 2 addons now available for it as well. My picks would be this, Pandemic and Kahuna. :)

  • Anyone have any good recommendations for kids? Either in the 6-9 age bracket or the 9-12 age bracket. Thanks!

Already have Dix It, 7 Wonders and Munchkin. Last two are a bit too complicated and longer than their attention span.

    • Exploding kittens is pretty fun. Russian roulette with cats.

    • +1

Make sure to get the non-adult version of exploding kittens!

Munchkin is good for kids. Catan you can play with simple rules. Ticket to Ride is easy. Bang is also easy.

  • Alot of the games on the list dont seem to work. They are fulfilled by amazon but not sold by.

    • +1

      select Seller = Amazon.com first
Toward the bottom of the left hand side menu options following your search

      • I was following the games in the list above. Only one game on sale for panamax and colt express. Both not eligible.

        • +1

          Out of stock maybe?
One of the items in my cart that I created this morning has jumped $US8
I looked at about 10 games from the list and all were available from Amazon.com

        • @scubacoles: Ah perhaps that is the case. Thankyou for replying

        • +1

Could be Amazon.com stock is gone, therefore only showing private sellers
