Record Player Recommendations?

I've recently gotten into collecting records but don't actually have a way of playing them as of yet. I'm ideally looking for a record player that has an inbuilt cd player slot as well without speakers. Pretty much an all in one kind of device (without speakers), that doesn't look terrible. Does anyone know of any that exist i can't seem to find any on the internet.

  • What's a record ?

    • Turntable

    • What's a CD ?

      • A CD is perfect for someone like you coupled with some vaseline.

Looks like there's one at Jaycar, although it comes with speakers (which you can change)

    • Thanks that looks pretty trendy as well.

Get one of those player converters with USB output so you can convert to MP3s on your computer. You can find them on eBay or Aldi will have them on sale now and then.

Although if you are an audiophile you'll turn up your nose at these and want a proper turntable, stylus, cartridge, amplifier, etc. You'd have to go to a record shop like Title and expect to pay much more.

    • I'm sort of hoping to find something mid range that looks good. There is a lot of ugly looking turntables out there.

  • So I was drooling over a few new TTs mostly project, but there's also an music hall 2.2, denon AT LP5 blah blah… trying to read between the lines of various reviews/forums/blogs. There's a few 30-50% off atm. The best could probs be a used debut on gumtree@ marrickville… altho the debut recordmaster or the rpm1 or the essential ll (surely not the lll, omg) or mmf2.2 also seem to choice - and so said choice.com.au
So after wasting? 5hours I thought hang on i should dust my old technics SL3300 off first.

Cleaned, a bit of lube, plugged in whoa, furf me, g2g!

And the forums, what they say, despite being direct drive, as good as rp1. (thats a rega planar 1, noob! -joke, i had no idea 6 hours ago either)

So, since most ozbargainers are known hoarders (oops there goes the elephant) surely a swap meet would be awesome!

  • I can't find any made by a decent brand, which suggests that any combo unit you can find is likely to be bad.

If your prime motivation is appearances, frame and hang your LPs on the wall. You can play the music from a streaming service or mp3.

edit: this is about as good as it gets: http://audio.teac.com/product/mc-d800/
