Official Announcement Blog

New Raspberry Pi product. Similar to the A model but cut down for price. Tiny, single-board computer.
1GHz single core, 512M RAM, microSD, microHDMI, 2x microUSB (one power only), 35 x 60 mm, 9 grammes. Runs a full Linux or alternatives off the microSD card.

Really small: see picture.

4 UKP or 5 USD. But listed at AU$19.20+GST at Element14. Interesting that it is listed at 11.88 UKP at Element14 UK, so maybe Element14 has not set their price worldwide?
29 Nov: That link to Element14 now shows "No longer stocked" so maybe they are already fixing things.
30 Nov: Element14's search now claims ignorance of all things Zero.

Anyway, at 27 Nov rates, it should be AU$8.36 (converted from UKP 4) or AU$6.92 (converted from US$5).

arc4ne points out that it is free on the 6 UKP MagPi magazine. Only AU$70 on eBay

Still no stock, but AusPi and PiAustralia are offering kits for $25. These include a microSD card and HDMI and USB adapter cables.

sylvester328 has found other evidence that this might be a kit price.

  • lol first time I've seen an "antibargain" posted
maybe we could pay in USD and let the CC company apply their (arguably fairer) conversion rates?

  • Isn't this the (ripp-off) standard Aussie Price for the new Pi-Zero?

Still faster than my work PC :/

    • +2

Wait until you load win10 & mcafee on the Pi, then you'll get the full work pc experience

  • Comes free with issue #40 of MagPi magazine in the US/UK :(

    • +1

Suspect the magazine will be rarer than an ozbargainer who doesn't have eneloops in a cupboard. Can subscribe for 6 issues for 50 pounds (inc delivery to Australia) and apparently the subscription should start with #40. But would be way better off getting the digital subscription (20 pounds for 12 issues) and buying the 'pi separately.

      • Would be better if it was available in a newsagent locally for $10 or so with the magazine. I wouldn't buy a subscription to a magazine I wasn't likely to read in the first place ;)

What's next – Raspberry Pi Life?

    • I expect Women's Weekly will have a special Margaret Fulton's Raspberry Pi Cookbook edition soon, with a special low-calorie, low-sugar, low carbs, gluten-free, Pi Zero lift out.

    • Raspberry Pi Blue, Cherry Pi, Raspberry Pi Clear.

      Where are we headed?

I hope Catch of the Day doesn't see this deal, otherwise they'll change over their system to be hosted on one of these!

  • sold out anyway

  • This really peeved me off. The Pi0 is perfect for what I want to do (just blinken der LEDs). Ridiculous.

  • According to an article in The Age on this today:

    http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/computers/raspberry-pi…

this $19.20 product is a bundle that includes USB and HDMI adapters (last paragraph).

Another page on Element14 UK shows the same bundle priced at UKP10.54:
    http://cpc.farnell.com/raspberrypizero?&ICID=I-Rpizero

  • The bundle from AusPi and PiAustralia doesn't include micro SD card. It says micro SD card SLOT.

The Age article describes this as a "$7 computer"

But they may have just done a straight currency conversion rather than find a place where you can actually get it for this price

    • Cost of express shipping + GST + profit would add $10-20 to it.

How can any company offer this product for $7 with shipping unless it's from China?

  • What can a device like this do? I've never heard used one before…

    • +1

The device is a full computer that runs Linux. In addition it has connections you can use to receive and send electrical signals out to the real world.
Its not as fast as an i7-based PC, but it costs very little and also uses very little power.
Great for learning about computing, electronics, robotics, etc. See example, example and example.

  • Great device for processor on internet of things applications.

  • Been looking into raspberry but it comes down to a case of… "I dont need it" and a $45 pi2 is now a $70 option. Yeah gtfo out with this shit.

At $5 or maybe even $10 I might give it a go for a laugh.

  • Apparently some new stock appeared today or yesterday, but it seems to be sold out again.
Element14 now seem to have a stable page, but it is marked as SOLD OUT.

  • Received email today stating they cannot fulfill order. Pre-ordered on 27/11/2015. Not happy they have taken this long to cancel order after being told a week ago it would arrive by end of Feb this year. Could have bought from another vendor if known earlier. Won't be buying from Element14 in the future if I can help it.
