Advice on Buying a New Camera Nikon D5500

Hi All,

A few advice and suggestions required:

1) To All OZB - Best and cheapest place to buy a Nikon D5500. I am looking for an amazing offer. Would like to purchase from an Australian seller and no grey market stuff.

2) To All the Camera experts out there - I am buying a Nikon D5500. Can you please recommend a good and reliable lenses for portrait shots. Also should I take the 18-55mm and 55-300mm camera kit lenses or should I avoid them. For zoom pics I was looking at 18-140mm.

Please let me know your suggestions and reviews.

Thanks,
Vab

  • Well, the 20% ebay sale at Teds end tonight. 20% ebay off + 3% cashrewards cashback + $100 Nikon cashback means that the Nikon D5500 18-105mm is AUD 988, or AUD861 if you can get the TRS refund.

    I just bought one :)

  • kit lens arent as bad as everyone makes them out to be, esp when you fine tune them. only difference is the focus motor and glass is better quality. So yeah, get the kit lens.

    • When you say 'fine tune" the lens, what do you mean? It sounds like you're tweaking it in some way, sounds interesting.

      • fine tune is on prosumer and professional cameras, it allows you to 'fix' a lens that is back or front focusing

        • Ah right, thanks for that. I should have guessed it was that. I've an old D70 that people had unfixable back focussing issues on (thankfully not me though, and it's still in use).

  • I'm after the Nikon D5500 too. If anyone sees a really good deal, I'd appreciate a heads up.
