+1, but 10% off seems to be the norm now for Masters. How long can they afford to keep doing this? Thanks OP.

    • +6

      'til they go broke :)

      • +2

Oh, so the coupon expires before the year is out?

    • +4

Not long if you read the reports.

      http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/companies/woolworth…

Wait till you see a super sweet deal on Masters gift cards…. then you know it's time :)

    • Waiting for the closing down sale?

    • Remember, while you see all of the offers here on Ozbargain they are often targeted at different customers at different times. For example this one is in a catalogue while others have been from redemption vouchers on Petrol or Supermarket dockets.

    • This time, is is applicable if online shopping then self collection ?

      • try the voucher code DIYDAYS

        • +1

Thank you, bro. It works and I made my purchase.

  • Full terms and conditions:
Receive 10% Off a single transaction on qualifying purchases. Not in conjunction with any other offer. Offer available from Thursday 10/11/2015 until Wednesday 09/012/2015. Non qualifying purchases include trade member cards and offers, trade quantities, wish gift cards, delivery charges, trade accounts, installation and assembly services.

not sure yet if it will also be available online

  • I'm waiting for their buy 4 get 1 free deal. 10% I get online everyday with thankyou10 already.

    • I went to Masters the other day to check out a lamp and found while the online price was $70, the lamp in store was $5 cheaper. If this is the case for most of their items then the online 10℅ discount really isn't 10% especially when you factor in delivery or petrol.

      • This shouldn't happen, online prices are based on your local store so the online price is the stores price.

        • -1

Well it did! And I did set my location on the Masters website.

        • @Trishool: sorry that happened to you, if you can tell me the product and your postcode I can try and look it up to see why.

      • Couple of weeks ago Masters had an instore sale with garden tools. I was eyeing for the bosch mower with the $100 off over $500. Then I went online and the price was marked down to $539 where as the in store price was $599. What's going on!

        • Sounds like they hadn't updated the ticket on the product in the store you visited, unfortunately sometimes products get missed when the team updates pricing but it should still scan up correctly at the register

    • But THANKYOU10 has ended?

      • Has it now? I bought something on Sunday and it worked…

  • hmm, looking at a project that I need to buy some timber for. Worked out with 10% off (+5% cashrewards for giftcards) that Masters ends being only 15dollars cheaper! Given the extra distance I need to travel and cart the timber, this eats into any savings. hmmm wonder if masters will do the price match with bunnings and then also give the 10% off..I assume the not in conjuction with any other offer applies here!

    • +1

No so price beat/match guarantee is not an offer. It is a loyaly benefit. So it can be used with any other offers like this one.

      • They wouldn't let me do price match against bunnings and then use the thankyou10 on top just last week. So I guess you can't do both?

        • I did it when I bought my washing machine from them. The instore rep let me do it but online rep didn't and hung up the phone. BAD customer service via call centre but happy with instore service.

    • Just cause, I hope you know the gift cards are 5% off the purchase of the gift card, therefore stacking 10% off masters and paying with the gift card doesn't always equal 15% off your purchase.

      Except:
Items in your cart equal $117.65, you want to pay with the $100 gift card which you purchased for $95, save $5 or 5%.
Purchase item equal $117.65, you used your gift card value $100(cost $95) and used the masters code for 10% off. Your gift card has been 100% used.

  • Damn just bought $60 worth of herbs today :(

    • +1

      What kind of herbs

      • +2

        The special kind

        • +1

          I like that kind.

      • Any mushrooms?

  • Good timing

  • Do the self checkouts take multiple gift cards and the coupon while purchasing things? I have 3 $20 gift cards and would like to use them.

    • +2

Yes, but you can just grab a catalogue when u r in the store and get the voucher, no need to "sneak" through the self serve, remember it starts Thursday

  • I have been eyeing the EGO 15" trimmer, but Master don't have them in stock yet.

  • +8

I really don't know why people don't go to Masters more often. I've found it to be a better experience all around than Bunnings so far. The 2 I have visited (Chillora and Northmead NSW) actually have lights so you can see (bunnings install lights, you have a lighting section) , and they have FREEKEN AIR CONDITIONING.

    • +3

I agree, I think the stores are brighter, nicer, and there seems to be more staff and generally easier to get staff assistance than at the big B.
Its just a shame they dont/cannot carry some of the popular brands like Dulux, Cabot's, Ryobi etc..

    • +2

Completely agree with this sentiment. I don't understand what Masters/Woolies are doing wrong with it. I go there over Bunnings where I can as I find the level of customer service to be orders of magnitude better than at Bunnings.

    • +2

For some its convenience as bunnings is more wide spread. Also Bunnings is a more established brand.
Although honestly I first visited a Masters store earlier this year and havent looked back!

    • Reason I haven't been back to Masters and stick to Bunnings is actually the return policy.
I got bitten twice on Masters return policy. Unused item but they didn't care. Final straw was I got a new head for a whipper-snipper because I thought I broke my old one. Came back and managed to fix the old one, so didn't need the new one. They wouldn't refund the still-in-packet whipper-snipper head.

So I went back to Bunnings who have honoured a no-fuss return before. Cash back in to your card!

Paid off almost straight away. Had bought more insulation than I needed. No problem, Bunnings refunded the excess. Too many hooks. No problem, refunded. Wrong size of something. No problem, refunded.

So now I only make sure to buy things from Masters that I don't have any chance of needing a refund for. But actually, I haven't been back.

      • Did you have proof of purchase? In my local store their returns policy is shown on a big poster, if the item is unused and you can prove that you bought from them they have no excuse not to accept a return.

Nor does there seem to be any problem with returns - while I was waiting for a click&collect order to be fetched from the back someone returned an item that was clearly opened and had been tried out. The reason for the return 'wife did not like it'.

I guess you might have met some particularly incompetent or unfriendly staff member. But if you don't like the first reply you get, just ask for the store manager.

        • Yes, I always keep the receipt. They had no interest in refunding it and I was arguing about it for about 5 minutes and gave up. Two different Masters stores so I thought it is just their policy.
With the snipper head they were trying to convince me I will need it sooner-or-later anyway and that they didn't have to refund it because it is my fault I bought it.

I still have it in the garage, sitting on the receipt.

  • @ HunterOfBargains20
Can i use my wife's woolworths staff discount card in conjuction with this coupon so i get 20% off? cheers mate

    • Not in conjunction with other offers.

    • Think so I did it before

    • +1

Technically you shouldn't be able to but it doesn't hurt to try

  • -1

Isn't this just the standard practice now for Masters? No better than Dicks.. Same old 10% off and a crap range

    • At least 10% works on everything unlike Dick.
      Even clearance lines.

  • +1

I noticed yesterday at the local masters, they had a display in their tool section with Hilti tools!
Top notch tools for those who are unaware.
    www.hilti.com.au

+1 Waiting for closing down sale

My wife and myself went to Rouse Hilll Master to pick up Hozelink 20M adrvertised for 1/2 priced. Staff told us the truck has not arrived yet. The staff said we have long list of names of people looking for the item, just write your name and contact bla bla bla.. So we can contact you once it arrives.

WTF, how on earth these people running a new business. Not our 1st time has negative experienced, last time we privided info for our kitchen measurements and no one from the store ever get back to us.

My wife said just go Bunning next time

  • Found a link to the official flyer on their website:
    https://www.masters.com.au/media/MASTERS/Media/static/DIYDAY…

  • masters should follow DS, doing clearance 70% to survive for few more months (or years) before RIP

Today I went to Masters and asked for 10% discount, the lady said I should show the barcoded page, which was in the catalogue home page and she got lot in front of her. Then I showed her the OZbargain deal in my mobile and she accepted that and just simply scanned the barcode in the catalogue in front of her. Thanks OP.
