Who Provides The Tax Invoice ?

So I bought a Microsoft office subscription in the ebay tech sale. I selected store pick up from The Good Guys. I received an order confirmation from ebay and than an email saying my order is ready for pickup.
I asked for an invoice at store on collection and they refused saying that it is against the company policy to provide invoice for sales on ebay.

I was hoping to claim the microsoft office cashback, but they need order/invoice number from retailer which The Good Guys have not provided me with. As a matter of fact I do not have a tax invoice anywhere for this purchase. I do have my receipt from credit card and order confirmation email from ebay, which I guess I can use for tax purposes.

Is it supposed to work this way?

Many thanks.

The good guys provide the tax invoice.

Every eBay purchase I have made from them has come with a tax invoice.

    • I have previously bought a printer in a similar sale from good guys and had it delivered. That came with an invoice. I did tell them about that and they said whoever issued that invoice would have been audited.

      • which ebay store did you purchase it from?

        • From The good guys ebay store, dasher .

  • In your case it sounded like TGG is only acting as a pickup point so I understand their refusal to issue a tax invoice.

Call TGG head office and seek their clarification. I am sure they can give you an answer.

  • The good guys provide tax invoice. Call Head Office and provide your transaction number. They will provide you which store has sold the item. You need to call that store to provide you copy of your invoice.

  • it is against the company policy to provide invoice for sales on ebay

That's the biggest load of BS I've heard in 2015.

You will always get a tax invoice upon picking up the order from your nominated store.

Once you make a purchase on ebay, a sales order is created (with the online purchase date) and it is then attached to your purchased product and held on reserve.

When you visit the store and positively identify yourself, the sales order is converted to a tax invoice, which is dated with the date of pick up. What you will receive is a tax invoice with your purchased goods, and TGG retain the superseded sales order.

Source: I had this happen 2 days ago with my order.

    • Thanks KaptnKaos. This is what I thought. Ebay is an advertising platform and it is the retailer selling products there and should be issuing invoices. I have emailed their customer care. Will call them when I get time.

  • Sound like the franchisee sick of dealing with eBay orders which they obviously don't receive full/any? profit on!

Still not good enough, you should have started flapping your arms and making a scene.

  • E-mailed customer care. Response in 48 hours with matter forwarded to the franchise.
Manager apologised and issued invoice. !!
