How Much Is My Nikon D90 + Lenses + Accessories Worth ?

Hi there,

I have not been using my Nikon D90 for about 1.5 years now, and I am wondering how much could I get from it? As I bought it in Euros, not sure how its value will convert in Australia.

It is in mint condition and was hardly used to. Anyway, if I could get some help to estimate the value of my equipment, much appreciated.

  • Nikon D90 Body
  • MB-D80 Battery Grip
  • Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX
  • Nikon 55-200mm DX VR
  • Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX
  • Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D
  • Standard Camera Bag

Thanks for your help ! :)

  • split it all up

you probably need to surf finalised ebay sales to get an idea

    the 1.8s would sell quick

I have a D90 and I use it for difficult situations but lets not kid ourselves… its coming onto 10 yrs old and is maybe 3rd gen?

You'd be hard pressed to get $300 for the body I'm guessing when something like a D3300 or whatever is what the cool kids want.

    • oh wow. I did not expect that low! I remember loving the top screen on the D90 for quick access and setting instead of having to look on the main screen each time. Compared to a D3300 ~ by the way D3300 can only run DX lenses correct? The body is not motorised so cannot run AF on "older" lenses?

  • Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX
Around $150. They are $250 new

    Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D
Possibly $80-90. They have been replaced but the G version and were about $150 new.

    Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX
is an old lens that is not too bad for a kit lens, but not many people will purchase this.

    Nikon 55-200mm DX VR
I dont think many will but this lens

If i were you, I will just pop them on ebay.

The D3300 will only AF with lenses that have AF-S (nikon) or HSM (sigma) or PZD (Tamron)

  • I sold a D90 on gumtree last year for $400. had to wait 6 months keeping running the ad until I got a good interstate buyer visiting local and bought it.

35mm - bought and sold few years back. As far as I can recall - around $200 mark. should hold similar value as no later generation lens released to replace this.

50mm - should score around $100 mark. new G sells for 160-170 new maximum.

See ebay sold item history for each of the item. You should get an idea.

But I do agree - D90 is far better value in terms of control and performance. the dual LCD, built-in motor and quick physical buttons are the killer features which you can only find in D7xxx or D300 DX series….

  • There are many Facebook groups to sell and buy camera gear in Australia, look for those. I sold almost exactly the same items you have through there and gumtree and got around 800 for everything.

    Nikon D90 $350

    Nikon Nikkor 50 mm 1.8D
    $90

    Nikon Nikkor 70-300mm 5.6G
    $90

    Nikon Nikkor 35 mm 1.8G
    $180

    Nikon Nikkor 18-70 mm 4.5G
    $140
