Is It a Good Time to Get an Electric Balanced Scooter? Which One?

An electric balanced scooter was on special at $350 the other day, now back up to $499.

Considering to get one for the not too little one and myself to have some fun over Xmas.
Look up eBay and there are a lot of craps and copies to choose from, ranging $250. most priced between $350 to $500.

For the geeks here, can someone tell me if this is good time to get one? Which one?

        • The video is of the obese shipboard passengers in the animated film WALL-E. They are scooting around on hover-chairs and slurping meals out of a slurpee cup. Thumbnail

        • @scrimshaw: cute.

    • it's interesting how lazier the human race gets.

      And stupider.

  • If anything, The ZBoard electric skateboards or something similar. Might cost more but they don't look as ridiculous as these and actually has decent speed.

  • Hopefully you can knock over a world record holder also :D

    • Gee…so there is still chance the thing goes unbalanced. The micro processor did not work fast enough?

Never a good time, get a bicycle!… Far more useful

  • A person I know bought one for >$600. While she was using it on the foot path, it stopped because of some battery issue (even though it was charged full earlier). Since she wasn't wearing any protective gear, she ended up bruising her elbows, hip, knee and felt humiliated as people watched her fall. So as Mark said better off buying a road bike.

    • Read from an article that the proper balanced vehicle is supposed to have multiple batteries, so even if one fails, it will have warning alarm and gradually stop.

    (and irritatingly blue links) issue?

    Nah.

Sure, there will ultimately be a few (hundred) deaths and lots of broken coccyx, but also & clearly, the basis for a new art form.
