Recommend Me Noise Cancelling Headphones

Hello all,

I'm trying to find a good pair of headphones for $300 - $350.

It doesn't have to be wireless but I would prefer it due to the annoyance of cables. Only main requirement is that it must feature noise cancelling to block out plane engines and people talking. I would also prefer over the ear instead of on the ear due to me wearing glasses.

I don't really know which brands and models to look at or where to try them out as most places only stock Bose or the cheaper Beats around me.

Thanks for any help

At that price range, most people are going to recommend the Bose QC 15/20/25 range.
Should be able to get it for ~$300 on sale. Doubt you are going to get much better bang for the buck.

    • +1. In my opinion there really isn't a better option.

Get the QC25. They have excellent noise cancelling and excellent sound for music.

Sydney HiFi normally have them for $320. I have never seen them less than that.

For Bose just go to a Bose retail store and try them out.

If you are going overseas you can take a extra 10% off with the TRS

      • How do you find the bass and sound quality of the qc25 ?

        • The sound quality is pretty good as for the bass it is fine as well.

I suggest heading to a store and trying them out though. You can use your own music and see if you like it or not.

Everyone's opinion is different in that area.

        • @knick007:

I finally caved in and bought the Bose QC25 for $338 ( got Myers to price match).

I've never thought highly of Bose as I find them to be very generic for the price but these aren't bad at all ! I wish they had a bit more deeper bass but over all very happy with them.

Now all I need is cheap air fares to test how well they noise cancel :p

Would it be fine to use AAA Eneloop batteries in them ?

        • @sshazam: Eneloops are fine. I have some in my QC25s right now. Though I don't use the noise cancelling function unless I am on a areoplane.

I agree with the Base but you can fix that if you have a equaliser.

        • @knick007:

Can you recommend a charger for them ?

          I've never used Eneloops before.

        • @sshazam: I just bought the regular enelopps charger

  • Checkout the Plantronics headsets.

I use the Voyager Focus UC for when on the train and at work. Very comfortable, noise cancelling, quality sound and some nifty features - such as they pause the music and/or mute the mic if you remove them from your ears.

    • I'm actually considering the plantronics Back Beat pro

  • Get some decent in ear headphones and some good quality shooters ear muffs.

  • Have a look at the mutant headphones at office works. Around 30 but really good at blocking the noise out. I used it during my last travel.

  • The Bose ones are excellent. If you look at the reviews they usually came out on top.I agree you should shop around and if you can get a discount at the Bose shop itself they have a returns policy if you aren't happy.

    • I did decide to go for the Bose QC25 great pair really loving them. Wish they had a bit more bass in the low end but they are very well balanced.
