Anyone Can Comment on ASICS Bought from COTD?

Did anyone buy any Asics esp Kayano from COTD? Can anyone comment on the quality whether it is as what you expect from the genuine shoes from local supplier like Rebel, Atheletes Foot and so….

Know COTD says theirs is only real from earlier thread
Look at the materials, the finish (with glue marks on the edge, the feel, even the smell (fantastic plastic smell in the shoes) - all different from my other Asics.
Honestly, I would not pay $200 as per RRP for the Kayano 21 bought from COTD.

I work at a sports shoe store and have purchased similar shoes (inc kayano) from both catch and my work. I'd say they appear to be genuine, they come with all the tags and stuff, but I can tell that the product COD sources is direct from America as it (the ones I bought anyway) have American Podiatrist stickers whereas AUS ones have Australian podiatrist stickers. They seem to last in a similar way and fit similarly from my experience. They may have just been produced in a different factory or something to Aus stock or may just be B grade if there are obvious flaws.

    • thank you. I feel better after reading your comment. I was worried my foot got poisoned when smelling the plastic smell inside the shoes.

If you're smelling your feet and obsessing about it, then you've got bigger issues to deal with….. :P

        • Just to be clear that it was the smell in the new shoes I worried about, I did not have special interest on foot, esp my own. : )

        • @eatwell365:

Surely a 'special' interest in feet is healthier then a 'special' interest in shoes.

I imagine though it would be much easier to take a shoe to a movie or dinner than perhaps a utility box.

          Do they have names?

        • @tonka: not Jessica Parker who likes Jimmy Choo's.

  • Just an update. I did end up visiting Rebel and look at their 21.
    Here is how I feel:
The cushion inside is the same.
    The stitch looks the same.
The firmness of heel felt slightly different.
The colour and material are slightly different.
Found no glue marks ans bad glue odour inside the shoes from Rebels.
    Still not sure…

But not commonly can find a pair of Asics or alike for $80 and less with store credit.

  • My guess is that the ones sold by COTD are 'seconds' or 'not worthy for retail stores' due to minor imperfections, that's why they are sold cheaper.
