Kickstarter - Plug Hub: Australian Universal USB Power Adapter

Hi OZB community, not sure if i can post this but shall give it a try. After a year of Development today I launched my new product on Kickstarter - PlugHub. I would love to hear from the community and get some feedback on what they think of the product and any changes they recommend. If admins allow it i would also love to setup a deal exclusive for OZB members, let me know what sort of deal you want. Looking forward to your support and feedback.

Thanks

    • The Crest's 2.4A is 31% less max output than OP's 3.5A. But essentially similar. How much, $25?

      • The Crest gmail92 found in BigW is 10A, with "fast charge". I know where I'm going tomorrow! =D

        • 10A max load for the adapter (two 240V sockets and the two USB ports).

According to the Crest product brochure that derek324 posted, the USB power supply's specs are:

2 x USB outlets: 5V DC 2.4A maximum total output

    • 10A? Am I reading that correctly? And with "fast charge" too or is that just referring to being able to charge via all four ports & sockets at 2.5A each?

And I would presume that the surge protection has a LED light to indicate it's working.

  • Just Contact Technonerd and your campaign is successful.

  • I see 2 design issues there:
    1. Over time the plug/socket will get loose due to the weight of tablet/phone. Also the plug is on one side so, the weight won't be balanced. This might cause it to slant and/or lose connectivity to the socket power.
    2. It might not fit all socket well and would leave an ugly gap. Or it might be too short.

Just my thought. Even if it was $20 I won't buy it doesn't really make a use case for me.

    • gonna need scientific proof of that.

  • Excellent design, well done. Cables everywhere and adapters/powerboards on the floor are a real issue for me. This is almost perfect. A few more USB outlets (if technically possible) and it's a done deal.

  • I like it very much. Well done mate, great design.

  • Good idea but I would be looking at type c usb ports for future proofing. Actually sockitz just released a glass double powerpoint that is app controlable and has cool led lights that tells you how much power your using and they are using type c usb now too. It's going to be the best way to charge devices going forward with up to 100w of power available.

I was lucky enough to get one of the 40 ozbargain units. It works really well and the stand on top is very useful. I've put it in the kitchen which I feel is the best place (power point up at bench height). It's a bit bulky but it serves the purpose really well :)

    • Thanks for the feedback.

  • +1

Received my plug hub yesterday in a very battered package.
As for feed back the shelves don't quite sit flush against the plug hub. Looks like the molds have left rough bits on the edges.
It would be nice to have the shelves click in.
It would have been nice to have the power point sockets spead out further than the standard.

  • Anyone else have problems with the plughub?
When I plug my phone in it says charging slowly. I've tried a couple of cables and still the same thing.
I've had the hub for a while but this has been the first morning I've used the USB ports.
