      Your question is silly. Nobody on the OzBargain schedules 'the big sales'.
      In the lead up to Christmas there will be discounted products available from all sorts of vendors.
      On the 26th of December there will be clearance sales of old stock.

      I think both are bad value compared to buying these sorts of things 2nd hand on Gumtree.

        That is a risk, but by far the cheapest way to get quality furniture\hoewear cheap is to find people moving overseas and selling their whole home. You will know they aren't getting rid of an item because it is a problem. The stuff is not usually worn out. And the person will likely do you a good deal as they need it gone ASAP, especially if you might want a few items. It is really a great way of getting top quality stuff at well below half purchase price.
