Boxing Day Sales - House Renovating - Wait to Buy, or Buy Now? What Would You Do?

I have just purchased a "new" house and I am looking at doing a large amount of renovating. For example, 2x air con with Installation, a new deck (25sqm), repaint all interior, tile all main living areas and kitchen, carpet bedrooms, new fixtures and fittings, skirting boards, oven, stove top, etc.

So my question is, is it better to buy the stuff now or wait for boxing day sales? Also has anyone had any luck when buying a large ish amount of stuff from say Masters or Bunnings and haggled them down in price?

If you could recommend any stores that would be helpful too.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks! (p.s. I'm in Brisbane)

    If you're going to masters then go to the nearest Woolworths and see if their receipts contain a 10% coupon.

    Other than that, just look for their specials/sales. I painted my kids rooms when masters had a 30% off paint sale.

    Wow you got 30% of paint, was that by luck and good timing or does that deal come up often? I have noticed they are doing a free paint sample pot today at Masters, but they are doing the deal on the colours we are looking at.

    I have noticed the 10% discount deal comes up pretty often and either gets posted on Ozbargain or on the Woolworths receipts. They have it on at the moment. I am also thinking about waiting to see if ebay does their 20% off promo. I read a few guys got good discounts of their air con split systems there.
