Fairly standard DSE practice. Vote with your feet.

    • Though if its cheap enough, customers will always go back.

DJs does that as well with the chep bedsheets.

Yep happened to me today, no communication until I turned up to collect. Guy was an asshole about it too, not apologetic in the slightest.

Mine was for the $299 Samsung Galaxy Tab S

if hand them with a petrol bill since they failed to notify you of it.

    • So you got a collect notification first?

      • +1

Hmm, not exactly. I got an email confirmation with an order number and they deducted the money from my card. But not an email that specifically said ready for collection.

        • +8

Ah so it was kinda your fault for going without a notification.

          @ozhunter:

No, Once Ive paid for an item, its mine.

        • @ozhunter:Kinda, I suppose. I agree with you in principle, but I think in this case all that waiting would have achieved would have been a cancellation email and a refund at some point in the future. If they have no intention of fulfilling click and collect orders for clearance items then they shouldn't be offering them on the website and accepting payment.

        • @HereBobButtons:
It would have saved you going to the store.

No retailer has a live inventory system that is 100% accurate.

    You got DICKED.

    • Hmm, that's a bit rough

    • yow mum

      • Your mum did? Well things have turned interesting.

ACCC is the way to go then..

    • How so? Stores are under no obligation whatsoever to actually sell you anything.

      • +3

yes, but if they are trying to advertise the price so low in order to get people clicked and ordered it online, and cancelling it without prior notice to the customer, just to bait customer to go to their physical store, means they are having a misconduct and unfair trading..i can see that they're a lot of people had the same experience, therefore, a signed petition of all those "victims" can be used to against them, via ACCC.

        • Depends on the specifics - I'd agree with you IF the customer ordered, paid, was told to come in store, and at that point told the item had been cancelled. Under those circumstances it may very well constitute s 18 misleading/deceptive conduct. It's not entirely clear if that's what happened here though.

        • @Captain Obvious: yup, ACCC may have a case only "IF the customer ordered, paid, was told to come in store, and at that point told the item had been cancelled." , @HereBobButtons case does not apply.

ok thanks im soon will sue them

        • @newbiesh: just make sure that you haven't deleted the text/email confirming that your order is ready to be picked up..sometime the end result is not about how much of compensation we will be getting (taken half day leave to pick up/petrol/parking fees/time etc), but it's all about getting them under the radar of ACCC for any misconduct.

Yep, same here, not surprised. And they wonder why they're going bankrupt.

They wrote the stock down to $0 and put it in the bin before you could get there.
