  • Anyone bought these? Any comments?

    • Got of these last year. really happy with it. Will grab another one or two this time round…thanks OP.

      • What size did you buy? Are they sharp? I'm asking because BigW downsamples any large uploaded photos to something too low-res for large prints. Would like to know whether HN does the same.

        • +2

Same size as in this deal. I uploaded a file from a D800 Saved as jpeg. Can't remember if I had to change the image size before. Typically an edited d800 jpeg is over 20mb. Some places like fabness canvas wont accept a file that large.

The final product looked great and matches what I see on my monitor. If your using a photo you've taken and usually work in adobe 1998 color space just make sure you convert it to srgb color space. Otherwise the print will look off.

The print I received looks great. Don't forget it's on glass so it's not going to look as good as on a quality paper from a lab.

Tonight when I get home I'll be ordering two more for the other kids.

        • @bbourizk: cool, thanks. Just wanted to make sure they didn't do the client-side shrinking like BigW. Thanks for the advice on color space.

        • I'm pretty sure HN and Big W outsource everything to Fuji labs, including the upload/preparation software

        • @hen dawg: Hmm… That's an issue because BigW downsamples to about 12Megapixels and recompresses (in the browser, before upload).

        • @hen dawg:

This is correct. Harvey and Big W use the same equiptment, software and wholesaler for production of these "outlab" jobs.

12mp image will be more than enough of an image. These machines only work at around 300dpi.

  • Anyone else having an issue with the upload image button being greyed out? Not really sure what I'm missing.

EDIT: nevermind.. Gotta upload to a new album.

  • Just went to order one and realized it's metal print…oops…the one I got last time was glass. Just ordered one anyway…It's a good price for it and the glass one looks great. The pic I uploaded was 33mb jpeg so not sure what the software is doing at their end. If the software is downsampling to 12mp then that's still going to produce a good print at that size. I have 50cmx100cm canvas prints done with a 12mb d700 and they look great.
