Mazda Servicing and Costs

Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying the new Mazda 6. The salesman I spoke to was pretty useless at answering questions.

Just wondering, does anyone know how much the servicing costs are with Mazda and how often they require it?

Also any feedback or known issues of the Mazda 6 would be nice too lol

    Mazda 6 2.5 petrol from 2012 onwards - average 15,000kms p.a. over 3 years - $1,366
    1st Service or 10,000km $296
    2nd Service or 20,000km $323
    3rd Service or 30,000km $361 Scheduled Service $296 + Brake Fluid $65
    4th Service or 40,000km $387 Scheduled Service $323 + Cabin Air Filter $64

    Mazda 6 2.2 diesel from 2012 onwards - average 15,000kms p.a. over 3 years - $1,590
    1st Service or 10,000km $316
    2nd Service or 20,000km $383
    3rd Service or 30,000km $381 Scheduled Service $316 + Brake Fluid $65
    4th Service or 40,000km $510 Scheduled Service $356 + Cabin Air Filter $64 + Engine Fuel Filter $90

Side note - Wow, nearly $300 for a $10k service is ridiculous!

    • Tell me about it :( My ix35 is coming up for disks and pads soon, and it'll be about $900 per axle from the dealer (or about $180 in parts lol).

Edit: The article mentions that the service interval was increased from 6 to 12 months.. I can't believe that modern every-day cars still have 6 month service intervals.

      • $1800??? And your actually considering it???
Going through this now on my Dualis. The dealer told me at 50K my front rotors need replacing. I checked and yep they have a really bad lip. Disgusting. Just find the rotors you need from www.dba.com.au and get them from www.brakesdirect.com.au
For less than the dealer quoted me, I'm getting some 'upgraded' bits that will last me another 120K at least.

God no. My post serves as an example on just how ridiculous dealers are for getting work done - especially outside their advertised oil change and visual check over services.. My ix35 came with 3 years free servicing, but thereafter they plan to make their money back!

But considering that the car has less than 30k on the clock and the brakes are ~75% depleted… I know it's a heavy car and the brakes are smallish and soft and driven in city traffic, but that's really quite a rort.

    • thanks! $300.00 is pricey for a service - quick check and an oil change? :S

  • with all due respect, if you get your new car serviced at the dealer, you are throwing money away.

a good local mechanic will do a better job for 1/2 the price.

    where are you based?

    • but dealer update your GPS ! /sarcasm

      • and charges you for it. :)

strangely enough, i was having issues updating mine at home and the local dealer did it for free !!!
he also did the 1000km first service for free
must remember him in my will……

          @oscargamer:

The first 1000km "service" is always free. It's not actually a service, they just check to make sure nothing has come loose.

        • yeh thanks…..ever heard of sarcasm? (in my previous post)

    • this would actually be my first ever brand new car. my preference is to buy demo or used - however there are barely any in the market. For warranty purposes, I thought it would be better to get the dealer to service it.
      I am based in Brisbane.

    • The good local mechanics can't update the software the run the car. Some manufacturers write it into the service schedule.

  • Dealers make money off a) finance and b) servicing. They make little/no money off new car sales that's why it's expensive and they'll try to get you to service with them.

sorry….WRONG…VERY WRONG…..they make good money off a new car sale.

for a Mazda 6, 2.5 Touring - about $3500 if they sell at RRP

        If

        Needs highlighting.

It's true, dealerships get more money from finance, aftercare and service

      • No one pays RRP for a Mazda. I've always got 12-14% off RRP and paid cash. They hate me. They want me to do finance: 'use your money for something else' lol

    • lol. Considering I've managed to haggle 20% off RRP on both new cars I bought, I'm fairly certain they are making plenty of money off new car sales. It always astounds me how cheap new cars are in Europe and in the US and people think that what we pay for cars here is normal.

  • Hi
Mazda is currently running a very good deal on all new Mazda vehicles.

I bought my Mazda 3 last month and with the free stamp duty and rego ,
the initial quote for my Mazda 3 SP25 (base) was $29,040.

After a few negotiations , the final price paid was $25,900 including floor mats, cargo tray for the boot and 3 years roadside assistance . The dealer also throws in the extended 3 years warranty and a full tank of petrol.

I think you should be able to get a reasonable price for your Mazda 6.

The dealer also throws in the extended 3 years warranty

Dealer warranties have conditions (like you must service with them) and many exclusions, so aren't really worth anything

and a full tank of petrol.

All Mazdas come with this no matter which dealer you choose. I've bought three. Worth about $50-$60 depending on tank size and current fuel price.

Bingo! That 3yr warranty won't be the same as a factory warranty.
