IPhone App SPAM

There seems to be more and more of it coming through these days.

Most of these apps posted should be free anyway, they are the kind of app you play once, then forget about. Aside from the fact there are a great deal of people here who refused to join the iPhone bandwagon anyway. And there are plenty of other websites dedicated to advertising these "free" apps.

So I think there should be a minimum threshold before an app can be posted on here…

  1. It should not be a play once and forget (aka fart app).
  2. The app should have been out for a minimum of 6 months and have actually been sold for a minimum eg. $5.
  3. Have a certain threshold of downloads.

I can understand that iPhone users need apps to get any real usefulness out of their phone. But this spamming is getting a bit silly.

    i agree to a point… but sometimes its nice to hear about freebies. I'm personally more annoyed with the constant woolworths and coles 'deals'. now THEY are annoying.

      Yeah the coles deals are annoying for things like bargains on carrots. But they do tend to have some extreme bargains from time to time, especially if something is on clearance.

      eg. my local coles had 4pks of AA and AAA Varta NiMh rechargeable batteries on clearance for $2 a pack. That was a genuine $15 saving per pack on the next cheapest store. I think it might have been an error, but I instantly cleared the shelf anyway!!! I would have posted it on here if I'd left any.

      Walked out with a carrier bag full of them for $40, sold 8 packs on eBay for $10 each posted, gave some away, kept the rest, job's a good un.

        Except when these leak in you appliances - so much for a bargain then, I'd give you some free as I refuse to use them after I've spend hours cleaning and repairing the damage, in my remote controls and torches (I threw the rest out) Ever wonder why Coles dumped them???

          I've never had a NiMH battery leak, ever, and I've used them quite a lot since the turn of the century. I've had plenty of normal disposables leak, but never a NiMH. Maybe I'm just lucky (when it comes to batteries that is).

          ps. These batteries I got had 1 year to go on their best before date too, they were almost new stock.

    There are plenty of apps such as Bargain Bin that keep us informed of current specials and free apps. As an iPhone user I agree that there should be some guidelines such as suggested by Stumo. There are thousands of free apps every day, so where do we draw the line? Everyones opinion of a "great app" is going to be different…

    I think freebies like this can be reported in the forum. I know the iPhone is popular but I don't use one so for me, no real use.

    So think about your battle - 3 agin 24 for. So we dump the iphone free apps and p off 24 and make 3 happy. This is a sharing site not everything appeals to everyone. Frankly another Steam weakly offer will blow my lid, BUT then probably its the same idiots who vote for those - LOL

    I have found some of the app posts quite useful. I have been pointed towards a couple of sites that I check nearly daily. So for me a thumbs up on app posts.

      So would a forum thread where iPhone users can discuss new sites and apps to check be more appropriate? Maybe then we iPhone fans could all have a place to chat without annoying everyone else?

        Steam
        Xbox
        Nokia
        Coles
        COTD
        MSoft
        Logitech
        Jetstar
        Tiger
        Sanitary pads
        perfume
        Just because someone doesn't like one of these products.

        Then with iphone apps we'll need games, productivity etc variations

            @acidburn02: I made the comment in relation to the setting up of a forum instead of having it posted in the main thread. You are welcome to start an iphone topic to discuss. It's just not practical to have multiple threads for multiple products if these are not available in the main posting section. The only ones to see these would be the enthusiasts of each brand.

            Why is it when the mods raise a concern about the practicality of a proposed strategy, we are then told we are stopping new ideas coming through. Look here and see ideas raised that have been implemented?

            You know we are people here too we can have opinions as well. Just because we make a comment doesn't mean we are right or that comments should stop. (my Battery reply/apology to Stumo above proves that we can get it wrong)

    The iphone free apps a day were crap, and so are the android ones. And besides, theres an app that tells you what todays free app is.

    Everything I said about the iphone free apps way back then still holds true for android as well.

    I guess I've got to deal with android fanbois now too huh.

      Well technically,it shouldn't be a deal because when an Android app goes free it stays free, so I'm not completely sure if it should be here
