Cigweld Transmig 250i Multi Process Welder $1895 Blackwoods. Sydney Tools Price Match $1686.55

60

Been looking for one of these for quite a while now. Can usually find them online for $1999 but found this deal from Blackwoods of all places for $1895. They usually sell this for around $2400! I have noticed Sydney Tools website have a price match guarantee to beat any competitor with stock by 11%, so that brings this baby down to $1686.55. That price is insane! Good luck on your purchase :)

I think you would have to be a professional tradesman or someone that welds for a living to shell this sort of cash out for a welder.
Eg a Chiropractor finding an X-ray machine that was $110,000 discounted to only $89,000 sees it as a serious bargain. The majority of people however would have no idea what Xray machines cost.

True ozbargainers buy first, questions later?

    • That last quip re questions later is probably true, especially Eneloops.

But this is not $89,000 which takes a while to recoup or offset. The type of person buying this will likely find uses for it. Why would anyone that has no plans or desire to weld, buy a welder. The point is, you can afford a better quality welder, than otherwise without the deal. I have an Aussie made WIA MIG, it weighs a lot due to its all copper windings etc. Most people have a light alloy wound Chinese eBay type welder. If the price was closer, they might buy quality instead.

No idea what this welder is like though. Just speaking in general.

And Just Tools has it for $1895 too.

    • With this welder, you could build an Xray machine!

      well parts of it anyway

  • I picked up the 175i for $650 a few years ago.. good unit, mobile

  • Haha! I must be seriously out of touch with society if the price of this thing is out of peoples range. The reason I didn't list Just Tools or anyone else's price is because Blackwoods is national and therefore have more stores Australia wide which will have these welders available. If Sydney Tools try and pull the old "but there is no shipping in that price" crap on you, Blackwoods have stores everywhere, so let them try haha. And FYI, I have just bought this welder and it's a cracker. Also rebranded internationally under Thermal Arc, Tweco etc.
A bargain is a bargain, no matter the outlay :)

And this is what I do before I start my welds ;)

  • How hard is it to learn to weld?

And where do you go to learn?

I've been thinking about learning for a while - I want to make my own large rectangular enclosures to use for crab traps.

I'd weld the metal surrounds, then put some plastic mesh around it to form the trap…

Much better than the crappy traps you can buy.

Welded traps are what the pros use…

    • Check your local TAFEs for short metal-working/welding courses. That's where I learnt.

You might even find a school near you that offers after-hours courses.
