Choice of garden hose

Hi all,

Needing your help.

Recently moved out, and a big garden newb. Can anyone recommend the pros and cons of the different type of hoses? Eg flat, coiled, auto-reel, etc

And any recommended brands? The main ones I've looks into are hozelink and zee… But reviews are a mixed bag!

Cheers

Hozelink auto-reel on special at Masters.
There's a 30m on sale for $99 if you can find it.
The smallest size (I think it is 20m) retails for around $200.
I've been using the 25m (thanks Hunterofbargains20!) and have no problems so far.
You generally need to follow the instructions provided for the product to last longer.
    Pro's
Looks neater, and saves time having to reel in manually.
    Cons
Alot more parts so things can go wrong.

15m hose plus couplers and trigger spray http://www.bunnings.com.au/aqua-systems-12mm-x-15m-garden-ho…

    $5.79

    Use and dump

  • Gardena gear is designed well, UV rated mostly made in Germany and Italy.

Or you could just use poor quality chinese stuff and clutter and pollute our country until we all die off and the chinese take over.

I've had a 30m Pope with brass fittings for approx. 3 years. cost around $65. much better than the cheapies that I have previously had. it doesn't kink easily. I ran one end over with mower and have had to replace (cannot recommend the Holman brass fittings from bunnings), but the original on the other end is still water tight.
