Getting a New Car Today, How Good of a Bargain?

Just got a new car and going to pick up today, thought I would put it here and see if I snapped a good bargain :)

so the car is a Mazda 3 NEO Sedan 2015, Auto, 5,000 km on the clock, white, no mag wheels, only optional is tinted windows and floor mats, a very basic model.

Saw it advertised for $20900 but I knew it wasn't worth that much so I offered $16k, the guy returned with $16.5 and I went to see the car, do a test drive etc.

It looks and drives like a brand new car, not a single scratch.

The bad thing is it only has 1 month of rego.

So considering a brand new one(same model etC) would be around 22500 with free rego and stamp duty (+ tinted windows and floor mats free) I believe it was a good buy, what do you guys think?

  • Private seller or dealer? Because the only other factor would be any servicing that comes included. Other than that, for $16,500 + Rego, I reckon it's not a bad deal for the 3. :)

    • It's a private one but service is also not included with a brand new one in the current promotion I believe? at least they didn't say anything… it's capped tho.

  • Have a mechanic or NRMA carry out (if they do it) a pre-purchase vehicle inspection.

  • Good deal. Enjoy your car

  • You'd also want to confirm the transfer-ability of the new car warranty to you - no doubt the original purchaser has kept all the paperwork - and yes, its a good deal.

  • good deal - so long as there is no finance on it or it's a written off repair

  • Good car. Good deal. But better ask why the seller sells it and judge if he lies.

  • +1

You should probably YouTube "autoexpert john cadogan should i buy a demonstrator?"
You might be surprised with what a car with only 5000 kms life was like before you owned it.
