  • i've found the process of once your in store and ask for it, is the worst and longest, feels like you have been there for like 10 minutes. I use click and collect for Big W as it's right next to my job, so for me a small delay for it to arrive isn't much of a hassle

  • so it could take longer?

My mail is only delivered 3 times a week and the postie won't leave parcels. Therefore I get my parcels delivered to work. However once my work closes for the year I will use the click and collect. Nothing worse than coming home from town from shopping (20km away) and finding a note in the mail box to pick up a parcel from the post office and having to do a 40km round trip to pick it up.

"the postie won't leave parcels".. your lucky, my postie won't delivery parcels, just leaves a card and tells all the tenants in my block of units to collect at the post office, in other words I have Aust Post version of "Click N Collect", lazy bastards.

The process at Big W is ridiculous too. Last time it took 15 minutes for them to get the code to process the order.

    It was 1-2-3-4.

I only used it for the $50 voucher with $100 spend, and will only do it if it has a similar deal.

Well … 15 minutes waiting at a time of your choosing still beats going to the Au post agency within 5 days or whatever it is (if you miss delivery)

    • Yeah and the opening hours for post office is usually business hours, which doesn't work if you work. At least big w opens later

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it save on shipping costs? Although it has no real benefit for listings with free shipping.

It's only useful for people who don't want to pick up parcels at the post office. Big W and Woolies are open when you finish work, unlike Auspost.

  • I much prefer click and collect over postal delivery
    a) I pick the package up when I want to rather than getting a card and retrieving the package from the Post Office when it is open next and I'm not at work
    b) The store can't blame Aust Post for losing my order. Up until I pick it up it is the Stores issue if it goes missing.

BTW - We have a great Postie and she is all decked out for Christmas at the moment.

I prefer C&C because I can't receive parcels at home and there is always a long queue at the local PO. Lots of people paying bills who haven't learnt to use the Internet. At my local Woolies it only takes a few minutes after shopping. So I don't mind that it's a bit slower to arrive.

I like parcel lockers even better, but you have only 48 hours to pick up.

C&C takes longer to be delivered and processed in my experience, compared to posting straight to your house by up to say 3 days. However I use it for high ticket items as:
    1. I don't have responsibility if package goes missing in transit.
    2. I don't have to risk my package being left outside and getting taken.
    3. I don't come home only to realise I have to pick the package up from the post office which I passed on my way home.
    4. Post office also has long queues and closes early, so it would be closed after i return from work.
    5. Woolies is open late as hell, and I get notified via email & sms to go get it, so I can go on my way home - eliminating problem 2 & 3.

  • It works great for me, parcels wont fit my mailbox slot, even if it does most my parcel needs signature, I don't leave work until after 5pm so give me a chance to swing by BigW which is open until 6pm to click and collect, post office as mentioned above closes early and and very long queues on the weekend for pickup.

In my experience, Click and collect has been the same speed as AUS post, soon as it's delivered to my preferred BigW I would get the SMS within an hour or two for pickup the same day.

  • I hate going to the post office… Love the woolies collect option.. I am never home when they try to deliver so the postie leaves a card.. I can never get a park at the post office, if i can get there at all during business hour's it's a miracle.

Woolies is open, close to home and I have the pin linked to my rewards card so its quicker to collect now. There are teething problems and inexperienced staff, and I have low expectations when it comes to the kids who work at woolies, I give them a break.

  • I'm Lucky that I can goto my local PO back door and collect my parcels after 7am

I thought of using BigW click and collect but that means going out of my 15-20 drive in peak hour traffic… PO Back door is only 2 min out of may way.

  • why bother ? because it's better than Australia Post's version of "Click and Collect". Where posties are too lazy to knock on your door and ask you to pick up your parcels in 5 days which happens to be your working day.

Ever have your stuff gone missing ? Good luck getting whatever measly compensation from AP. With Click and Collect, Big W and Woolies will wear down the cost themselves. Big peace of mind for both sellers and customers.
