Woolies Reward Offers - Are OPAL Top Ups and Phone Recharges Counted Towards Qualifying Amounts?

Hi ,
Received email offers in last two weeks e.g. $15 for $40 spend in one transaction. In the email, it clearly excludes OPAL and phone recharge. But just received another email offer $5 for $30 spend in next 2 weeks. This time, the exclusions are " An eligible shop excludes withdrawals of cash, purchases of gift cards, delivery charges, internet cafes and purchases of smoking/tobacco products and/or accessories."

Has anyone successfully got any $5 rewards this week (offer starts 14 Dec) by topping up OPAL or doing phone recharges only?

  • Previously this was ( a few months ago) I haven't done it recently cause of amex shop small.

The terms and conditions make it sound ( use to exclude services) like it's not included but I always get the discounts and fuel vouchers when I did opal

  • They changed the T&C midway into a two week promotion. I didn't get the first week so I contacted them and they retroactively gave me $5 Woolies dollars. The second week I noted that the T&C had changed so I didn't do a $30 shop. Opal card topups still count towards the petrol discount though.

  • Until Woolworths rewards are consistent in their terms and conditions we'll never have a straight answer to this question.

I noticed that the terms and conditions in the last few weeks had gone back and forth a few times as well and wondered what was going on.

  • Just got another offer by email, $10 off $100 and the fine print at the bottom specifically excludes travel topups. No thank you, Woolies. Actually worse than $5 off $30.
