Suckling: "One of the Sauternes of the vintage"

Regulars would note Sauternes features are very few and far between in these parts, but when we are offered an outstanding wine, indeed according to James Suckling; "One of the Sauternes of the vintage"; from one of the greatest Sauternes vintages (2009) ever; with wine coming direct from the Chateau and at a barely believable price - then we all sit up and take notice!

The detail is below but to expand on those opening remarks, this is a pre-arrival offer on La Tour Blanche 2009 375ml. Purchase is made now with delivery in approximately 12 weeks (March 2016). The wine has elicited scores of 96 Points (James Suckling); 94-96 Points (Neal Martin, for Robert Parker); 95 Points (Wine Enthusiast) and then a trio of Masters of Wine; 95 Points (Tim Atkin MW); 92-96 Points (Derek Smedley MW) and 19/20 (James Lawther MW for Decanter). The offer price is $39.99, which for some perspective is half the $79.99 price on our site for stock purchased En-Primeur 8 years ago! If you only buy one 'sticky' even every five years, this is it!

  • Thanks.

I enjoyed your post, OP. Very educational for me.

  • sounds impressive, not sure i want a sweet wine at all

  • This is basically the size of a can of soft-drink?

  • nice, loving the sauternes deals on ozbargain! did you find any other decent deals to make up a mixed dozen?

ordered a half dozen, but just noticed the listing says out of stock…given it's pre-arrival, obviously there is no stock, but does that mean the allocation/order is exhausted? hopefully not!
