Bose Warranty Replacement - Need Advice

Hi guys,

Need some advice regarding Bose warranty replacement. I have a pair of Bose SiE2I headphones which have become faulty. I had them replaced in December last year as they were faulty. As they were replaced more than 12 months ago and purchased nearly 2 years ago, Bose are refusing to replace them.

The current RRP of the same model headphones is $199 and they have said that they would do an out of warranty replacement for $120. I don't mind paying, but $120 is a little steep.

My question, since boxing day is not far away, should I take up the offer of the $120 replacement or wait until the Boxing Day sale where I can get the same percentage off the sale price of whatever price it is then? Appreciate any tips or help on what I should do.

  • I thought IE2 models were superseded by SoundTrue Ultra in-ear headphones? Don't quote me on this though, BOSE line is slightly over my budget I've set for earphones, so I tend to be less informed on BOSE. Anyways, if that is true, wouldn't you be able to score a deal on SIE2 on boxing day or even on SoundTrue models?

So each set you've had has barely lasted a year, yet you're considering buying another pair… umm why?! Gotta be another product out there than wont fail after 12 months after spending $200!

    • The Bose Headphones sound quality is amazing and they are the only sports headphones I've ever worn that don't fall out when running.

Unfortunately I sweat a fair bit when I run and the headphones have a habit of shorting out even though they are meant to be "sport proof".

      • If its finding an IEM that fits then try transferring the tips from your SIE2 and use them on other IEM's? You could probably order spare tips from Bose so that you can install them on future or spare IEM.

  • I thought Bose warranty was 2 years?

    • Headphones warranty is only 1 year unfortunately :(

You should have full warrenty on the replacement pair. I had a sound link mini replaced under warrenty and I made sure that came with a full warranty again.

  • I bought the original headphones in the US, so unfortunately the Australian statutory warranty doesn't apply, the Bose Worldwide Warranty does. :-\

    • My dad's grey market QC15s that we got him from dwidigitalcameras.com broke past the 1 year warranty period. I called Bose up and told them that I knew that it was grey market and wouldn't be covered.

The guy gave me an address and case number anyway. 2 weeks later, a new one shows up with an invoice for $0.
Was very impressed, I suppose it depends on the rep on the other end of the line

call your state consumer affairs or look at their website. These products should last longer than twelve months, and they should be replaced. Samsung replaced a tv for me after two years, no problems, in fact upgraded for goodwill!
