Is it possible to buy Google Play credit with Telstra pre-paid credit, or only direct purchase of apps?

Got a couple of prepaid telstra sims unused, each with $10 credit (2 week expiry once activated).

Wondering if its possible to actually convert to Google Play credit, or do they only allow you to buy an app directly with the credit. Would like to be able to store up credit for later down the track when I actually want to buy something on the play store.

Did a quick search but nothing jumping out at me regarding this other than not being able to stack credit, which is not a good sign for my needs.

You cannot but Google Play credit with Telstra credit but rather just use the Telstra credit directly as a separate payment method.

Apparently the credit will carry over between months too, up to a maximum of $4999 stored credit (so I am told) - I am still in my first month of Telstra prepaid but have no reason to doubt the person on here who said it.
There's something called "ME2U" or something as well that lets you send credit to another Telstra prepaid service, but I've never used it.

  • I have built up over $140 credit on the Freedom Plus offer and use an iPhone so cannot spend credit through Google Play. Have no other services to use credit me2u on. Anyone got any ideas for using this credit up, other than changing to Simplicity?

    • Build up another $500 and buy a Nexus 6 phone.

      • You can't buy handsets from prepaid credit though?

        • misunderstood

        • @tendollar: Pls re-read initial post. I'm using an iPhone.

The $10 Sims can't be used on Google play store.

    • Ah… interesting. Do you have a direct reference to that somewhere or just something you heard?

      • I have tried it about 6 months ago. $10 isn't classified as normal credit.
