For those that need a cheap guitar for the Rocksmith 2014 deal here is one from JB HIFI

  Any comments on how well it goes, especially in conjunction with the rocksmith game? I'm guessing it's world's ahead of guitar hero in teaching to actually play.

    If it's just for rocksmith,then the guitar itself is enough, the realtone cable works as an amplifier(I think) when connected to the game console or pc.

      Yep as above, nothing else needed if using rocksmith.
      If not using rocksmith you can plug it into you home amp to get sound or buy a small guitar amp to jam with.
      Or just strum without a amp you will still get some sound

        So you just need this guitar and once I have Xbox game then what does the cable that comes with game plug into Xbox and guitar and your done,I do have an amp think called holysmoke disco which I'm sure has a socket for guitar so I can use it with this also if I did not want to use it with Xbox.

  So you need this for the rock smith game as I ordered one going to make sure it's on it way first before getting something like this wonder what others are using with rock smith?anything cheaper around but just as good value?

  Cool so with say this guitar and the rock smith game that's all that's needed thought I heard you needed some sort of cable?i do know the game comes with one but this was some other cable for what I'm not sure

  Rocksmith comes with the cable to connect from your guitar to the Xbox. That is all you need in order to play Rocksmith.

  To play your guitar through the amp without Xbox/Rocksmith you will need your own cord (different from the true tone cord which comes with Rocksmith) which may or may not come with a guitar and/or amp you purchase.

    So what's this for below was mentioned on another post about this but unsure what its for is this what you need to hook up to stereo and or amp? Or is this for something else or to be used in conjuction with rocksmith and xbox one.
    Confused if required or not,would rather spend the money for this cable towards a guitar if its not needed i just dont know what its for or why it would be needed.

      Hi mate- I'm not sure what that cable is. I have only ever played Rocksmith through the TV ie. no amp or sound system hooked up.

      All you need to play Rocksmith is a guitar, the game, the cable that comes with the game and plug one end into your electric guitar and the other end into your xbox in the usb slot where a wired controller would go.

      The guitar then plays through the xbox/tv speakers.

      So no, you don't need it in order to play Rocksmith.

        @bwatt99: I don't even know what it is ahaha, I just know that you don't need it in order to play through your tv as intended. I have got both editions and needed only what came in the box, ie. game and real tone cable (apologies I incorrectly called it a "true tone" cable earlier.
