Can I change the default search behaviour?

I've been using this site for years. EVERY time I use search, I want to see LATEST (by date) deals, NOT by relevance, can I save the default to be by date instead? Please?

Yeah the default should be by date.

Yeah honestly, I have to agree with that.

You can save the default order since November 2013.

    • Change from "Sort: Relevance" to "Sort: Post Date"
    • Click on "Save" next to a floppy disk icon

All your future search will be sorted by post date.

    • Oh awesome, I'll try it - thank you.

On the search result screen, under the search box on the top left of the screen there is an option to search by date, relevance or last comment. Select the option you want. Then, on the right of the screen there is a save option with a computer disk icon. Click on that. Your preference should then be saved!

  • Maybe I should start a new thread, but here goes.

What is up with search behaviour "missing" items ? In an attempt to reduce my ozb addiction, I set up an alert for "64GB microSD". But it didn't alert me this morning to this deal. And when I go and search manually, it doesn't show up.

At first I thought it may be caps sensitive, but it appears not.

What am I doing wrong ?
Or is search a bit broken ?

Also, am I correct in saying searches and alerts can't be set up on tags ? (although this is less important since people are generally bad at tagging things appropriately)

    • Search only reindex once an hour, and therefore the alert will only be sent out after re-indexing.

      • ah, that explains it….

I understand indexing all the text could be intensive, but would it be feasible to index just the title as it is entered/edited ?
Then searches and alerts would be closer to real time.
Although there is some advantage in say a 5 minute delay to filter out dupes and other cancellations.
Thinking some more, an realtime search of title would probably reduce dupes.
