    5255, capital value $640,000 semi-rural… $2860 per year.

And yeah it's a bloody joke if you ask me. $55 per week to get a bin collected (which costs $3 at the local dump, 5 km away). And next year they're going to reduce bin collections to fortnightly…

Why don't you pay it Quarerly?

    • -1

why would i want to pay quarterly?? its the same amount???

      • +2

Because instead of paying $2500 in one hit at Christmas you can pay it in instalments but each to their own.

        • -1

i still dont get your point……. you end up paying the same amount in instalments so why not pay it in full when you have the money available?????

          @Zfan111222:

If you have a mortgage with redraw feature, the money could be sitting there saving you interest, until you have to pay the instalment off…

          did took me 25 years…..

        • @Zfan111222:
So you would have had the extremely high interest rates early on then?

        • @boonanza:
          yeh i was on variable… i remember paying 15%……

  • 6107 - $1298
I'm within about 20 mins of the city.
Comparatively speaking I live in a pretty low-rating council.

  • Minimum residential works out at about $2200 in Cairns.

  • Relatively low rates in Tas

  • I'm in 6148 on a $2.4m riverfront property of 1200m3 paying $2350. 20mins/13km from centre of Perth. A mate in Fremantle pays $2960 close to river buy no views in high density section, value $1.6m 250m3 block. He is spitting chips about it. The increases in recent years are outrageous.
WHY ARE SO MANY PAYING SO MUCH?!!!

More important question: How to fight city hall?!!!!

    • How to fight city hall - simple - at the ballot box.

Stand for council on a platform of reducing the rates. You will be elected without any opposition.

You will also make history - no-one has yet thought of this idea.

  • 4123 - $1515.20
    Cat. 1 = 0.302 cents per ARV$.

  • $1800+ semi rural MPSC C.I.V. $650,000

  • Contact the council and ask them what additional services they are providing for the increased rate, etc. We had ours revised to the last year's amount for three years in a row now, so I haven't paid more in four years now.

Go to council meetings and raise your issue over and over again, if others agree they will tow the line with you.
