AirAsia Rescheduling my Flight dramatically

Hi OzBargain,

I've been reading OzBargain for a long time but I've never posted anything! I now need your help :)

This is what I sent AirAsia in regards to the rescheduling of my flight.

"So I booked my flight with you guys to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo (Narita) on the 17th of January at 12:50am. I have now found out that my flight has been changed to 2:05pm on the 17th of January, I have also found out that the airport has changed, from Narita to Haneda, but how did I find this out? I luckily I happened to have stumbled across a news article saying that all flights to Narita from Kuala Lumpur were no longer in service.

I did not get a single email regarding the rescheduling of my flight. Now I will lose a day in Tokyo because instead of arriving at 8:45am, I arrive at 10:30pm."

I originally fly from Ho Chi Minh City but on a different airline (Malaysia Airlines) which arrives into Kuala Lumpur at 10:00pm. If I do take this flight, i have to stay in KL for around 13-14hours. I also now lose a whole day in Tokyo (I'm only there for 5 days, and every day counts)

I do have comprehensive travel insurance with AAMI and I was wondering if they could do anything.

What are your opinions my fellow ozbargainers.

    dunno

  • how long ago did you book your flight ? they stopped flying that route in august didnt they?
you sure you didn't miss a email or something ?

and what outcome do you expect ?

    • booked the flight in july. yeah i just stumbled upon an article about them stopping that fly, so i checked my booking and it got rescheduled.

i scrolled through my emails and didnt get anything.

was hoping to get a refund or compo, my travels start on the 29th of dec, so i won't have anytime to consistently contact airasia in regards to a refund.

so i was hoping to be able to get something through my travel insurance

  • Happened to me. Contact them and they will assist you to reschedule your flight to suit you. No compensation will be given as there's a clause in every ticket purchase noting that the airlines can change the flight anytime.

  • I am not sure why you are flying thru KL. Would it not have been cheaper (and much shorter) to fly Saigon to Narita direct. I am sure you could have got a cheap ticket given you were booking over 6 months ahead.

    • Because hes flying AirAsia, its their hub.

  • Contact air asia today. Explain that that new time doesn't suit you and see if you can get a refund or rebooked.

You can't fight Air Asia. You won't win, and they don't care. End of story. Move on.
