This is not an actual car

      Yeah, title is misleading

Damn… was excited there for a second… maybe put toy car in title

  • What happens if I hook up a 9v battery to this?

My kids had a dora car which they out grew. I doubled the battery and basically doubled the speed. It only drove from one wheel at the back, so when they hit the accelerator, it wheel standed and jumped to the left. they used it for ages after that and the motor never burned out. Funniest thing was if they didn't just hold the pedal and get ready to steer right til it was composed, it kept jumping and pointing further left.

Might be worth the money then if I can simply up the voltage once they start thinking it's too slow. Got a few decent sized 9 and 12v batteries lying around.

Bit odd how yours only drove from one wheel, usually they go with a really cheap axle sort of design allowing for two-wheel drive. Either way, if this does the same that would at least be quite funny to watch.

        • The battery was a 6v sla. The other advantage of hooking them in series was my car smart charger could then charge them.

        • @tmarshall60:

What type of battery was it? If it's similar to mine (12v 7.2ah sla) it's recommended not to use a car charger for recharging them. A car smart charger will still do the job, though it may reduce the lifespan of the battery a little.

      • Which battery type you get?

        • It's a 12v 7.2amp sla battery, can't remember the model number off the top of my head. Just a cheap ~$30 one from Jaycar.

        • @dyl: thanks

  • I saw this in store. It's very low quality. Looks good from far, but all plastic. Door handles were coming off etc. They are faux handles of course, you jump in it rather than open the door. I would not waste $99.00 bucks on this. $50.00 maybe.

This is a very misleading title.
