Recommendation for internal HD for backups - 3 or 4TB

Hi there,

I'm after another internal HDD to use with my HDD dock for backups.

Considering either WD Green, or perhaps one of the Seagate NAS drives, which I could end up using in a NAS at a later date.

Reviews seem to suggest 4TB drives are generally more reliable than 3TB?

Missed the current round of specials, but have a little bit of time to target something before buying.

Suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

In terms of reliability, seems like Hitachi > WD > Seagate. Do some googling, there are a couple of sites that shows Seagate has higher failure rate.

  • I have the WD Green. No complaints so far. However, if you will use it frequently, take into account it hibernates every few minutes (hence, "green"). I don't mind it, I use it maybe once a month to backup music.
